Yeah, I think they are testing with molecules or atoms. I'm not sure. The problems is, that it would be impossible to move a large object through space. How current systems work, is that it makes a data duplicates of the original object and then sends that data through the "line" to remaking a replica of the original item. The amount of information, that needs to be proceed when doing human trials, is to much and would lead to fatal errors on the other side. The solution, is that instead of moving the object, you move space around the object. Only drawback is, that it would require huge amount of energy. So much energy, that it's possible that we may never achieve it.
Time travel is the same, you just need to move it through a different axis.
yeah but i know that mankind will find a way. maybe not in our generation.. as for the energy they are conducting studies about the "dark energy" its the energy that keeps planets, stars, galaxies continue to drift away from each other. just imagine how strong it is to actually push galaxies.
Teleportation is possible too. Worm holes are the reason. But these holes are so small that even a proton cant pass. If these are made big, then teleportation is possible.
Future time travel is possible. If you went in a spaceship, and travelled at close to the speed of light heading away from where you started. And did this for, lets say, half a year. You then turn back, and head to where to started at the speed of light. You arrive at your destination, relative to you, only 1 year has passed. But, because time slows down the faster you travel, means that time at where to started has been going at normal speed, as you have been travelling through time slowly.
The only issue I find with time travel is the paradox theory that has to do with it::
Man creates time machine.
Man gets gun.
Man shoots his past self before he goes through the machine.
Can't be explained without a headache, bottle of scotch and numerous arguments.
I think the parallel universe theory caters to time travel quite well.
But the thought that time is an electrical signal is something I've not heard of.
If string theory is correct, it would be impossible to alter your original timeline. Going back in time, and doing something that is different than what originally happened, the timeline would split in to two possible outcomes. One being, where the original line is unaltered and one where it is altered.
This may sound weird. But, go and watch Steins;Gate. That'll help explain how it works. It's also an awesome anime.

If the alternative is moving space around the object, the only thing i see happening is a complete chaos, the planet getting inverted inside out etc... Moving space requires energy maybe a million times greater than an A-Bomb... Teleporting small OBJECTS might work, but living beings will never.

This.. But the only fail i see in any of these theories is also that if you were to go faster than the speed of light would mean you're going faster than the rest right? So you age and all that, so you'll be older by the time you stop.. Then you're supposed to go back to the point where you started.. But i doubt driving backwards in a car that goes with the speed of light will bring you back to the point and this is exactly why i don't understand how you would wanna go back in the past? I'm getting myself mindfcked lol

Everyday, space expands. Do you notice it? No. If you were to manually stretch space, the surrounding area wouldn't even notice. This is how the Universe is expanding. Might be hard to comprehend, but the whole Universe was created at the same time. Since the beginning, space has been expanding.

lol thats why i dont support time travel. it would f*ck things up big time or could turn into a big win. its pretty much a gamble . but for me i wont like it to happen. but teleportation why not?

Technically, that is forward time travel.

yeah and time will come that earth is too far away from the sun that it will no longer be able to sustain life. so the answer is... harness that power and stop the whole universe from expanding. now i make it sound so easy? XD

Yes, I agree. And Michio's equation is getting closer to explaining how it works. When he and the others are finished, it's going to be awesome scientific discovery.

But if we are moving horizontally on a regular time axis, in what way would you want to move differently on time's axis?
Also @ Tremendous, how do you intend to travel back then? What theory?
As for the space expanding, that is true, but if you were to bend space.. Ofcourse you would notice? We don't notice the space expanding cause it's very slow and not in our surroundings. But in case of wanting to teleport a human or an object we would have to manually manipulate space in a very fast space and ofcourse in our close surroundings.. Which would mean that we would distort all the space around us.. Logically speaking this could really **** things up (especially with the amount of energy/gravity/etc)

When I look at the axis of time, I see it as a T intersection. We are at he crossroad, there are two directions we could travel down the axis. One, with the forward flow of time. And, the other with the reverse flow of time. As to how this would be achieved. I have no idea.
As for teleportation, you aren't really teleporting anywhere. You are moving space around you. As for the noticing the stretching, you wouldn't. When you stretch space, light would also stretch. As light allows us to see, the stretching of the light would match the stretching of space. You might notice an increased gravitational field though.
Yeah, well that's why i said earlier that i only see going to the future as possible.. I agree with your axis theory, but in reality.. Moving with the speed of light.. Well technically will automatically make you go forward down the axis, which means u would be traveling to the future, but going back would be impossible. Just going in a backwards direction wouldn't help.
And yes, your theory about moving space is correct but if you were to move space on such a large scale it would be impossible to do so without having an effect on the planet, we can not control that amount of energy, but theoretically it is correct though.
If you've watched those videos, than you can understand what they're trying to say. If you haven't, than basically, their theory states that everything you can see, touch, hear, taste smell etc. are only electrical signals that your brain interprets. Meaning that this world and the universe only exists within your own mind (This is what I understood from them anyways). I know, it's a hard to concept to grasp, but you're going to have to try if you want to understand what I'm trying to say.
This sounds like more of a philosophical way of thinking.
That said... Science and Philosophy slam into each other like a freight train when it comes to Quanum Mechanics.
I'll be pretty blunt. To the person of average intelligence, quantum mechanics is just freaky and doesn't make any sense. Unfortunately, one's choice of degree program does not have bearing on their intelligence. So there are quite a few people with degrees in the subject who have little clue how to ponder their subject of alleged expertise.
Not withstanding:
QM imposes restrictions on the amount of information that can be known within a system. Because of this, things get a little wonky.
Let's back up and go to the origin of the concept of quantum mechanics. Like all paradigm shifts in science, it started with a catastrophe:
This is what is commonly known as the "ultraviolet catastrophe."
So, that's how quantum mechanics began, and ultimately what began to pave the way for the even -greater- insanity yet to follow; Particle-Wave duality:
This is where classical concepts of time and causality fly straight out the window. ... Now - to be fair, for an object to enter a "super position" - it must be sufficiently isolated from our universe (and often only certain traits can be placed into a super position with any kind of reliability). But, experiments have shown that a measuring device, itself, can become entangled within a system (so long as the system remains isolated).
It's a very daunting interpretation of the data, and controversial, but the overall idea is that - when you can prevent a system (be it a photon or a cat) from interacting with the rest of the universe - that system assumes a range of possible states and only assumes one defined state once we begin interacting with it, again (directly or indirectly).
It challenges the very notion of reality and makes it an uncomfortably subjective concept.
Saying that, I'll get onto explaining my idea.
Time, as we know it, is a perception that we make when we look at the world. We use it to explain why people grow older, or why the days and seasons change. If time is a perception, that means that time is also an electrical signal, just like our sense of sight, sense of smell, sense of hearing, sense of taste and sense of touch. As most people know, light is an electrical signal. If that is so, that means that that electrical signal (that we call time and space) that our brains interpret can also be produced as light.
If you had enough energy, you could basically turn the fabric of space and time into a wave of light (I have no idea how you would do this...) and stretch fabric of time and space around you as you please. Thus, being able to teleport through space and travel through time.
First... no one knows what the hell space is. It's kind of like gravity - we've gotten so used to the concept that we have kind of forgotten that we don't really know what it is. The same goes for time.
It seems kind of silly to suggest that we don't know what space is... but from a mechanical standpoint... we are just so used to thinking and working with the concept of space that we have forgotten that we don't really know what it is, how it works, etc. Space is different from "nothing." The Casmir Effect demonstrates this, quite perfectly:
You must be registered for see links
So I'm not exactly sure "space" and "time" actually exist as something to be warped, twisted, or otherwise adultered and violated.
Though with enough energy, and exact control over its behavior, one could certainly increase the probability of developing a method of overcoming obstacles to those goals.
So basically, the diagram is trying to explain how my idea works. If this Holographic theory is correct, that means time and space can be turned into a form of light because light is a form on energy it can be stretched and shrunk.
I ... don't think that's a proper interpretation of Holographic Theory. Further, Quantum Mechanics places limits on how one can go about 'bending' and 'stretching' the electromagnetic spectrum. Even if you could somehow 'convert space to light' and then try to bend it, there is what is known as Planck Energy to deal with (that is the maximum amount of energy that can be contained within Planck Volume during any given Planck Second). Basically - if you tried to shift a gamma ray emission source even higher into the badwidth (in order to scale with the rest of your spatial distortion... thing) - you would eventually get some kind of spectacular display (I can only imagine violating planck energy density would be fun and result in a spray of exotic particles).
So, there it is. I know, it's not a very solid or sound theory, but it's just a thought that I had. I also have trouble explaining ideas that are in my head. If you have trouble understanding, tell me and I'll try and explain it some more.
It's better to entertain thoughts than to let them rot. Even if they don't pan out the way you thought they would - it's better to have taken the time to think about a wrong theory than to have not answered the call to ponder.
