it seems to me that the ninja theme is no longer part of the franchise anymore. i think most of us were drawn into naruto because of this fictional society with ninja rankings and seeing cool sword fights and the outplays and what not, but now ninjas no longer have a place in the series. even in part 2, things were getting out of hand with avatars, chakra bombs the size of nukes, supermode forms, and moon splitting techniques. boruto says the era of shinobi's already over, peace between the villages has already been acquired leaving less demand for shinobis, cities are being modernized, and kids in the academy are choosing to go to college instead of becoming a ninja. the threat of continuously having to defend your village is disappearing. the warring states era that hashirama and madara survived through are over, little himawari helping mommy doesnt have to be sent out to the killing fields anymore unlike her ancestors. it seems like this big conflict between the villages is what forced people to continue the ninja system, but aside from the threat of this new kara group disrupting the peace, becoming a ninja just seems like a tradition without a purpose. whats the point of being a ninja now? to be part of the police, or a bounty hunter? not only that but technology is stealing the spotlight too, i was pretty disappointing to see team 7's attacks on the robots do nothing, only for katasuke to save the day with his buzz light year armor. soon everyone wil be using tech weps leaving traditional shinobi at a disadvantage. its starting to really cross the border now and it wont be long till we see ninjas fighting with machine guns and military tanks or some sht

it does really seem that the main theme in boruto is the clash between the past/present (shinobi era) and the future (peace and decreasing demand for ninja). if u remember the very first panel with boruto and kawaki, kawaki tells him that "the age of shinobi shall end" and boruto responds that he "still a ninja". this and some of the evidence you point out foreshadow the clash between the idea that "history repeats itself" (theme in Naruto shippuden) and "the future" (boruto). (credit to some members in nb for pointing these things out)

This, Boruto isn't about ninjas isn't about the struggle against peace. Something very relatable in today's times of prolonged peace.

Yeah, and that's why Boruto has decreasing popularity.
Sadly, the fans that still stick in the base are people who agree with seeing the franchise being milked and downgraded.

This, sucks when your fanbase is full of children who just ***** no matter what. 20 years from now they'll still be *****ing about the latest Soruto chapter and how great Boruto was back when the show was still about cyber-ninjas.
