When they showed clips of the last great ninja war, they did a good job capturing some of the grim reality and the brutality of it all. I was hoping for a return to this when the war broke out, teams ragged and on the brink.

I was expecting odd ball teams combining their jutsu for quick and deadly fighting (I'm not saying everyone dies but deadly in the no-nonsense sort of way). Achieving objectives in a ninja like fashion, not open british empire style army vs army. I think this was rushed job plot wise and it really does not have the gravity it should.

What do you think? :mad:_@:

yeah this war was a bit rushed... with you think of it, the War so far has only been going on for a couple of days and Naruto has only been in it 2 and a half days.

I would expect much more from Kishi being it is the first war we witness in the Naruto series. The hype from all the other Great Wars seem more bloody or violate in nature. It is a bit of a let down.

I agree with you. However, the war has had some badass moments such as Madara's appearance, Madara vs Kages, Kabuto vs Uchiha Bros, Naruto Kakashi Bee Guy vs Obito & 6 Jin Paths, Hokage revivial. Kishi should have made more people die and they should have been good deaths; just as you described. Maybe some main characters, maybe some unknown fodders. This just doesn't really seem like a war.

It was a let down, but the only thing we can do is watch how it unfolds and enjoy it to the end.

those other wars were between nations/villages. this is a war against 2 people who can take on everyone at once.

We want Rated R and not PG 17. :|

Kishi is afraid of brutality in a manga where arms get knocked off.
Konohamaru defeating a Pein with a rasengan in 1 hit was the beginning of the end.
The anime was the last line of defense for the WAR, but they added to the screw up and added filler arcs in between it.

I guess Kishi is better at writing small scale battles than large wars. Ideally he should have stuck to the former, but well, the escalation was inevitable.

Bleach portrays the war feeling much better IMO.

In the past wars, it was between humans. But this isn't. This is a war between Humans and Psychos
