Thinking about it, how Kishimoto (by his own confession) is an avid gamer, and that he literally took many character designs and concepts from 90's video games:

And that Edo Tensei was roughly based on the Homunculi Soul Transfusion and the Sovereign's Rite in Valkyrie Profile. I'm beginning to wonder if the Shinju/Fruit backstory was based on the Divine Tree of Legend of Dragoon:

It is said that the 108th fruit of the Divine Tree gives birth to the Virage Embryo, the God of Destruction. Birthed by the tree in order to eradicate the current species so that new species can be born (cycle of creation-destruction-rebirth) so in order to prevent this and avoid extinction, the people in LoD separated the Virage Embryo's soul fom his body, and hurled its body into the sky which became the Moon that never sets:

Oh I know the fanbase is relatively big for a crack ship. I do find those two cute together, and I cansee why people would actually like those two together, but I'm a loyal NaruHina & Hinata fan, so I don't like shipping Hinata [or Naruto] with anyone else. Speaking of which, I was always under the impression you hated/disliked Hinata?

Yeah. It was between her and Sakura. I went with Hinata as in canon, it's never happening.

I do hate her. But it isn't a romance fiction. It's a political conspiracy and many other things thrown in for a good measure. Hinata is at least passive. I just loathe Sakura's clingy antics. So my loathing is expressed through Sasuke.

Why is everyone surprised? It isn't a romance fiction. Not even close. It's M rated for sexual content though, but there are no romantic moments.

The closest interaction between Kisame and Hinata was when Neji fought Kisame with Team Gai and Neji being his cousin. That's it.
