Rather than indoor arenas with hoops people just use parks with trees and obstacles marking the course. There are a couple of barriers to entry, the most obvious being cost and possibly followed by knowledge of proper maintenance.
For everyone thinking that a crash will destroy a drone, the ones used to race are extremely resilient. Props are commonly broken but they can be purchased in bulk for a few cents each. If you work full-time then you could likely afford it.
