People here complain about all the friendship power in Naruto, but people what you don't understand is that, "There is a difference between Friendship power and Cooperation of friends". That's what I'm gonna clear up in this thread of mine.
First of all, "What is FRIENDSHIP POWER ?". It is a state in which a character basically overpowers his opponent, even when he is already being beaten like a pulp, just by thinking about his friends. Now which anime/manga actually use it like it's such a great thing? Fairy Tail, Bleach and Onepiece is the answer guys. Well there maybe others as well but these comes to my mind among the mainstream ones I've watched.
Fairytail, I think when it comes to Friendship power, this manga is self explanatory.
Bleach, this uses the theme of friendship power quite often. One second you are beaten like pulp, other second a girl cries and just says,"Don't die", and you basically become so powerful that you beat the crap out of your enemy. Yeah, that's what is called BS.
Onepiece, "Rob Lucci" nuff said!... Anyway this manga focuses on "Nakama" throughout the series and there is a lot of friendship power, but what makes it different from Fairy tail is that the guys here do look like they can atleast beat their opponent.
Now coming to Naruto. This manga rarely showed any friendship power from the start. Character actually never get a power-up just because they think about their friends. Now laugh and say I am biased but no, I am not. Notice that I said RARELY for a reason.
In Naruto, the times when the power of friendship took over was like I don't remember. Now let me clarify this. In Naruto it is actually a cooperation which makes the character strong when he is at pinch. For example, Naruto is about to lose his fight with Neji, he ask for help to Kurama and the fox gives him his chakra thus making him strong. See, that is the cooperation thing.
Another example, during the war arc, Naruto and Kurama worked together all the time. In the fight against Obito, all the K-9 came inside Kurama chakra shroud, Naruto handed them the Rasengan he made and all they had to do is make the way.
Another example is the death of Asuma, Jiraya, Hiruzen, etc. They all were feeling something very strong for others for whom they were fighting, but they all died nevertheless. Asuma, even with support, against an unknown enemy power, died. Same with Jiraya. Same with Hiruzen and many others. Now imagine the situation these character of Naruto were in for other animes I've listed and which scenario you think you would've got?
So yeah, there is rarely a friendship power in Naruto as oppose to the common belief. It's called cooperation by which, even in reality humans become powerful.
Other than Naruto, the manga which shows it more perfectly is SNK and some others.
