People here complain about all the friendship power in Naruto, but people what you don't understand is that, "There is a difference between Friendship power and Cooperation of friends". That's what I'm gonna clear up in this thread of mine.

First of all, "What is FRIENDSHIP POWER ?". It is a state in which a character basically overpowers his opponent, even when he is already being beaten like a pulp, just by thinking about his friends. Now which anime/manga actually use it like it's such a great thing? Fairy Tail, Bleach and Onepiece is the answer guys. Well there maybe others as well but these comes to my mind among the mainstream ones I've watched.

Fairytail, I think when it comes to Friendship power, this manga is self explanatory.

Bleach, this uses the theme of friendship power quite often. One second you are beaten like pulp, other second a girl cries and just says,"Don't die", and you basically become so powerful that you beat the crap out of your enemy. Yeah, that's what is called BS.

Onepiece, "Rob Lucci" nuff said!... Anyway this manga focuses on "Nakama" throughout the series and there is a lot of friendship power, but what makes it different from Fairy tail is that the guys here do look like they can atleast beat their opponent.

Now coming to Naruto. This manga rarely showed any friendship power from the start. Character actually never get a power-up just because they think about their friends. Now laugh and say I am biased but no, I am not. Notice that I said RARELY for a reason.

In Naruto, the times when the power of friendship took over was like I don't remember. Now let me clarify this. In Naruto it is actually a cooperation which makes the character strong when he is at pinch. For example, Naruto is about to lose his fight with Neji, he ask for help to Kurama and the fox gives him his chakra thus making him strong. See, that is the cooperation thing.

Another example, during the war arc, Naruto and Kurama worked together all the time. In the fight against Obito, all the K-9 came inside Kurama chakra shroud, Naruto handed them the Rasengan he made and all they had to do is make the way.

Another example is the death of Asuma, Jiraya, Hiruzen, etc. They all were feeling something very strong for others for whom they were fighting, but they all died nevertheless. Asuma, even with support, against an unknown enemy power, died. Same with Jiraya. Same with Hiruzen and many others. Now imagine the situation these character of Naruto were in for other animes I've listed and which scenario you think you would've got?

So yeah, there is rarely a friendship power in Naruto as oppose to the common belief. It's called cooperation by which, even in reality humans become powerful.

Other than Naruto, the manga which shows it more perfectly is SNK and some others.

I agree.
Naruto fans only seem to develop an opinion when they see someone else said it. They never rationalize or interpret their own opinions. They just hate because they see someone else hating and adopt their negative opinion as their own.

I didn't see that but again everyone cooperated.

That friendship rasengan everybody did
I've already listed that scenario in the thread. It's Naruto who made the Rasengan and all they did was lauched it. Like I said, RARELY.

And.....what did you prove? The way I see it, that was a pure cooperation of friends. Read the thread please.

I agree.

It's so true. Most of them have a sheep mentality. Hey look, those guys are hating on Sakura and calling her useless, so she is useless.

you forgot to mention Yu-Gi-Oh! XD
Oh damn !!! XD

I knew someone would bring this up eventually, and no, the episode with Rob Lucci was NOT a friendship power moment. Luffy and Lucci were neck and neck the entire fight, when one pulled ahead, the other pulled head, and it continued like that. Both men were a pulp at that last moment, with Luffy being almost unable to move and Lucci having both of his legs practically broken, as well as damage all over his body. Luffy was able to stand back up because of Usopp's motivation jumpstarting his immense willpower.

...and second, who ever said that there's friendship power? If anything, there are two main themes of the show exemplified by the protagonist and the deuteragonist/antihero/whatever sasuke is right now: cooperation and self-reliability. Yin and yang. Most eastern philosophies agree on a Middle Path of equilibrium. Therefore, to achieve true power, one must be able to cooperate but also to rely on themselves when a situation demands it. You need to work hard by yourself to get better, but you also need masters to show you the way.

Idk who's been saying that friendship = power in NV, but that's pretty silly. This ain't DBZ.

THAT SAID, the role of friendship in this manga is still important; it is a major source of motivation, which is important when one finds themselves in demanding situations.

i disagree.
Naruto manga have shown many times this "friendship power" .

I will give you examples and this is far from rare, it happens almost every time in the manga. Every time a person defeats his opponent(who already overpowered him) by magically receiving a power up,its friendship power.

1.When sasuke saved naruto from haku and then naruto defeated haku purely by power of friendship.
(and no this is not cooperation from friend, cooperation from friend is when both work together to defeat an opponent, here naruto magically got stronger than haku who was leagues above him... power of friendship )
2. Naruto vs pain ( this fight was so much filled with plot no jutsu that i dont know from where to begin any more )
3. Naruto (4 tails) vs orochimaru
4. Obito vs invisible ninja ( he saw kakashi get hurt, awakened sharingan and defeated the opponent, power of friendship)
5. War arc :
Lee damaging edo madara right after neji died. ( it was not just power of friendship but complete BS, madara withstood a FRS in his edo form)
Sasuke, naruto defeating obito right when he used so6p sword (that dna sword) [they should not have been able to defeat that DNA sword with a regular susano sword)

There are more but i cant remember

I agree.

And that's why you should read the thread.

1. Naruto became angry and it was the the 9-tails seal that got broken and Kurama came into the picture. It was still a borrowed power, he didn't became that strong by himself but thanks to Kurama, that's indirect cooperation.

2. The reason why you don't even know where to begin is because you don't even know where is the power of friendship and plot-no-jutsu you speak about.

3. Where the hell is the power of friendship in that fight to begin with? Seriously, you need help. It was Kurama all along who overtook Naruto thanks to his hatred.

4. It was not the power of friendship but a strong feeling to prove his words right. There is a reason why I said RARELY, and the situation with Uchiha's awakening of MS falls under that case.

5. I think you missed the full page of that chapter where Naruto handed down Kurama's chakra to him? And you are the one talking BS. Madara didn't without Naruto's FRS, he absorbed it. Sasuke and Naruto defeated Obito thanks to each others cooperation and also the reason why DNA sword, as you claim, broke is because of the fact that The Sword of Nonobuko draws it's power from the strong will of its weilder. Obito's will at that time became weak thanks to Naruto's constant trash talk.

Yeah, come with more. Because these just got proven wrong.
There is no need to come with more stuff.
You dont know what is power of friendship and why this term is used by general public.

Whenever a hero defeats a villain despite of being weaker to him by getting a motivation and a power just by thinking of his friend, its power of friendship.

Naruto defeated haku with power of friendship. He himself does not have the ability to defeat haku on his own. He saw sasuke got hurt and only after that he defeated haku. The term power of friendship is used exactly in scenario like these where the character somehow gets a powerup and defeats opponent far stronger than himself.
In general, naruto should not have been able to defeat haku but it was only due to sasuke getting hurt that he was able to do so. He did not have the skill to defeat haku at that time which means lack of training. It would be cooperation if he had asked kyuubi to give him chakra and such... much like naruto vs sasuke fight at VoTE.
This is why naruto is called a shonen manga and all that power of friendship things come in the first place.

In every other scenario i mentioned, same thing have happened.

Its you who do not know what is power of friendship. You are trying to make sense out of these things.

Also, i find it funny how u call uchiha and MS thing , rare. Do you even know how many uchiha have awakened sharingan/MS/EMS in the entire series? And yet you call it rare?Do you even know what rare means?

My point still stands, power of friendship exists in the manga and it is far from rare.
