Nice thread as always bro, I agree but I think Minato is on par with Kakashi in this department as well :)
It's debatable yes, but it's Kakashi's week, so i didn't want Minato to steal his spotlight. We both know he is above that
I have to agree Kakashi must of known about that blind spot and placed sakura there for the right moment..if Kaguya manged to evade both Naruto and Sasuke's assault. That Kakashi. Lol.
Indeed, it's what i think as well. Remember the blind spot was similarly around that angle when Neji explained it. Which could also explain how Kaguya failed to notice in time

i agree that he is a good strategist....
but i disagree that he's the best or that he came with it in the blink of an eye...
kakashi was observing the entire fight and abilities of all fighters since the fight with kaguya started and obviously he was thinking of a way to defeat kaguya since then... also we don't know if strategy was successful or not so this will be counted as over-hyping till it becomes successful...
also other characters have shown great analytical and strategic skills too like itachi, tobirama, minato etc... and they have shown such skills against smarter characters than kaguya, e.g itachi against everyone he fights, minato as well like against obito i.e kamui, madara and tobirama too against jubito etc.....

Yes kakashi came up with a brilliant plan, but he isnt the best stragetist in the manga.

Black Zetsu was plotting this whole this since the beginning.

But the point is what kakashi done in the latest chapter not to heavily tactical

It just kaguya dumb factor make him easy to counter every bit of Kaguya attack and doing

What to hard to make a move with that power you have

OK like this

Ash bone = Kamui snipe:win:

Portal = OH! OK, let try Kamui snipe again, yeah it work!!! Bingo:yayy::happy:

Ash bone counter attack to the Susanoo face = YO! Obito how bout I'm trying your magic, Intangible man, intangible:whip::snick:

Kaguya in the front = she is dangerous, beware of Ash Bone, Kamui(Intangible)Raikiri, Bull-eye and going to nowhere forward:bye:

That sum it up

If only you had enough of a brain to make coherent sentences.

Anyone that takes 1000 years to plot something, and fail at it, is really not the best strategist, (obviously Kaguya will lose at some point)

It already is successful. They touched Kaguya with the seals. That was the strategy. Whether or not she actually gets sealed is irrelevant.

I agree with you here with the current situation he's in right now his ability to assess everyone's abilities and to make an attack pattern to nearly defeat kaguya, yes that takes quite a level of genius; but I don't think he is the best in the manga.

There's a reason why Shikaku was the chief strategist of the whole Alliance him and Shikamaru's ablility to assess a situation and come with more than one strategy to counter it in the midst of battle is ingenious. I believe those two are the best strategist in the manga, I believe Kakashi is a close second to the two of them though.

I think you are the one that needed batter brain to decipher that post.

But I'm sorry if you don't have it

I disagree with the OP for the sole reason that a clearer definition of 'strategy' was not used. With this I would like to bring my opinion on the matter to the table. First let us define the different kinds of 'strategy' that were shown in the manga. Personal strategy, team strategy, and large group strategy. In each of these VERY different types of situations I will discuss candidates for the top spots.

When it comes to analyzing and strategizing for yourself, the two best are Sasuke and Minato, but not in that order. Rather, in the situations where they excel: Sasuke is the best in the "duel" subset of personal strategy, and Minato is the best at overall personal missions. In Sasuke's case, most, if not ALL of his fights that he showcased his skills as a ninja best were the ones that involved himself dueling against another single ninja (Naruto, Orochimaru, Deidara, Itachi, Raikage, Danzo.) However, it is important to note that in all of these fights Sasuke won at great cost of his own body, and this is where the genius shows. He is able to formulate plans, in the midst of these duels that, while having him receive wounds, completely destroys the opponent. It was even mentioned that the ability to create plans and use his BODY as the diversion to land the fatal blow was actually part of his deadliness. Minato may be a strong duelist, but he died, and Sasuke has not, and that is the only reason that he is not the best. However, overall Minato is the best at personal strategy as shown through his feats (taking down the rock forces alone, forcing Tobi to withdraw, etc.)

Next is team strategizing, and I mean small teams. In this category alone I agree with the OP that Kakashi is the best, because he has shown outstanding results in ALL forms of teams. He has been under captain (Minato) command until he became Jounin, so he understands the subordinates' roles in a team, he has been a Jounin captain himself (mission that lead to him getting sharingan) so he understands the regular force's captain role in the team. I mention 'regular' forces, because Kakashi then joined the Anbu and repeated the process, first as an Anbu squad subordinate, and later on becoming an Anbu squad captain for years. Then Kakashi graduated team 7 and became their jounin teacher/commander, teaching them and directing them on E-A team missions, and later on village defending level team missions (small squad of Akimichi against Pain) and currently world saving small team. So, in all, Kakashi has had experience at ALL levels of the military in Konoha and commanded in all of them. This is very rare, and in fact, he is the only mentionable character to have been in all branches and commanded teams in all. So Kakashi is the best at small team strategizing.

Lastly is big group strategizing, and without a doubt Shikaku is the best at this, because he was 1)the head strategist for the war, 2) able to think of a plan to restrain the ten tails, and most importantly 3) after not being able to predict that there were different stages to the ten tails and that it would grow and burst out of it's restraint of cement, create a NEW strategy that utilized the ENTIRE army's combatants WHILE under the pressure of the knowledge of his own inescapable destruction via bijuudama. And it did lead to Madara and Obito being ripped from the helm of the tentails. No one else comes close, except for Shikamaru, who comes in second.

This is my opinion on the topic, what do you think?

That is one of the most well-thought out posts I have read in ages. Repped.

You are correct on a lot of fronts. Sasuke, kakashi, Minato have all shown great strategic feats yet from different angles. Sasuke is unbeatable - I would put Itachi here as well - when it comes to coming up with things on the fly, and calculating jsut about everything in a matter of heartbeats. He breaks down his opponent brick by brick. This stance is unmatched in the manga. In fact, coming up with plans whilst in pain is even more difficult, as you suggested as well.

Team strategist goes to goes to Kakashi, as you suggested. He has shown that he can command a team - as he can never seem to function on an individual level - and bring out the best results. He has shown to use people effectively, but he falls drastically short of Sasuke's brilliance in the quick calculating department. But he has more merits above him when it comes to being a team. Sasuke may have been a excellent leader when he made up Team Taka, but he was not that impressive in controlling them to their strengths.

Shikaku and Shikamau are like war strategists. They need to be given pros and cons of their battle and time to come up with strategies. Sasuke and Kakashi may fail in this department, but inversely, these two are not quick thinkers to begin with. Which is why intel and then processing, and the final analysis is crucial for them.

Great post.

Depends on the kind of strategy you're talking, but I'll agree Kakashi and Minato are the top in this department.

Wasn't it stated that he's even more smarter and tactical then shikamaru?

Of course, he's underrated. Glad he's getting some recognition.

Naruto said that in the second Shippuden chapter before he seen Shikamaru's improvement, he also said Kakashi's sense of smell is better than Kiba's, stronger Sharingan than Sasuke's, better taijutsu than Lee's and we see everyone are better than Kakashi in their respective power/skills/abilities. Lee has better taijutsus, Sasuke have a stronger Sharingan, Shikamaru is smarter, Kiba have better sense of smell.

I agree with a lot of this but Shikamaru shown the best team strategist in the manga not Kakashi. Shikamaru was told to round up who ever he can to go capture Sasuke before he leaves the fire nation so Shikamaru ran around asking every genin he deemed strong to come, some were home and some weren't; like Shino wasn't available and he originally asked to have Chunins and jounins . Shikamaru then comes up with a full plan that utilize everyone's skills or abilities and , and and . Kakashi even praised Shikamaru's strategic mind for a team .

Shikaku would be better than Shikamaru with team, I didn't say him because we don't have much manga examples, but if he can utilize such a large amount of ninjs and use their skills, knowledge, abilities, fighting styles, and jutsus in a unison as he did then he can easily do it with a team. I would make Minato the best in duel strategies as well since his analyzing skills are only shown to be comparable to Tobirama, Hiruzen, and Madara who all have high analyzing skills. Minato deduced Obito's Kamui by seeing it once then broke it down even more by seeing it a second time while Kakashi and Sasuke could not do this when they first encountered Obito (Kakashi had his team and Yamato's team and couldn't do anything) and Minato made a strategy that overall too Obito down.

Also Minato's strategy didn't result in him dying, he chose to die in order for Naruto to be able to speak to Kushina one day, leave Naruto with power to fight Obito, and keep the balance of power between the 5 nations. I mean, Sasuke would have died if Naruto was fighting to kill, if Orochimaru wasn't already weakened as Sasuke and Suigetsu both stated, if Itachi didn't plan out the whole fight so he can die by Sasuke's hand, if Gaara didn't stop A from killing Sasuke, if Danzo wasn't worried about Obito jumping in which stopped him from using KA. I mean Sasuke did have great strategies but plot saved him a lot as well and I would put Itachi above Sasuke in strategies since he planned out their whole fight.
