I really have to agree with you on this one bro.
Although a lot of theories have made sense.
Obviously Isshin has powers, otherwise Ichigo could never have awakened his.
I think that no one remembers him besides a handful of people. Generally speaking, these captains seem pretty young, so it is possible that they never heard of Isshin, thus explaining why no one in SS can connect the last names. Isshin is most likely someone who was born in soul society but decided to leave, like urahara was banished, except he left.
If we look at the Bleach wiki, it states that Isshin was born a shinigami, and later became a powerful shinigami but lost MOST of his powers. He still had some remaining, allowing them to be passed to Ichigo. If ichigo is this strong with the traits of a Soul Reaper passed onto him, just imagine his fathers strength.
Little is known about Isshin's history, except that he was once a powerful Shinigami, though his division and actual rank are currently unknown. At some point he attempted to learn the Final Getsuga Tenshō by facing his Zanpakutō Engetsu. Whether he succeeded or was not able to learn this technique is unknown. About twenty years ago, he ceased being a Shinigami, losing most of his powers. Over ten years ago, Isshin encountered an imperfect Arrancar. He married Masaki Kurosaki and they had three children: Ichigo, Karin and Yuzu. Masaki was killed eight years and 5 months ago by the Hollow Grand Fisher.
