[Theory] The Reason Why Madara Survived The Battle With Hashirama (Solved)

I have come to the conclusion that based on the subtle evidences presented in Ch. 626 that Madara used a genjutsu or possibly a form of limited Tsukuyomi to make Hashirama think he killed him.


Take a look at this:

Don't you find it peculiar that Madara's EMS was activated after dislodging from Kurama?

And that the image of the Moon appeared Immediately after that panel:

It's because Madara had already cast the genjutsu on Hashirama just before they fought mano a mano.

And that is why Madara's EMS was already deactivated at the preceding panels, the genjutsu has already been cast:

And after Hashirama "killed" him, this was shown:

You must be registered for see images

And did you notice Hashirama's peculiar upward glare:

You must be registered for see images

And did you notice the peculiar "diamond shape" symbol?

You must be registered for see images

That is the manga/anime trope for optical illusion/mesmerization

And that is why the same image/symbol appeared on the moon and on the panel after Hashirama looked upward:

Before the fight:

After the fight:

The genjutsu had just ended/ wore off that is why Hashirama fell to his feet:

That is why Hashirama has no idea how Madara survived even though he was apparently sure he killed him:

Because Hashirama was under a genjutsu at that time. Hashirama might have injured Madara but Madara was not killed because he used a genjutsu or a limited form of Tsukuyomi during that fight:

Well done! I suspected something like that too! Little subtle hints Kishimoto leaves tends to go unnoticed by many and then later those of us who caught on early are not surprised while others are.

When he looked up though, I wonder if it was regarding what he saw with the moon. Something was definitely off in that moment and seemed to connect with the scene with Obito and Rin.

No one in the village sided with Madara at this time. That's why it was... Black zetsu. But it wasn't any form of genjutsu--Madara obviously had the stab wound from the fight dude.

But wasn't Black Zetsu formed only before Madara died?

Didn't notice the fwip... That could be when the gen jutsu could be cast. Sequence of events Like conserve chakra - activate sharingan - notice bunshin - play along (act fooled) cast gen jutsu - make sure he misses your heart while he thinks he got you - deactivate - fake die (lying on floor) - wait for him to pass out - harvest DNA and retreat.

I believe you are right on you'r theory Sir Derp Obito if you and others Have seen the New Naruto Movie you may also agree to,I won't give the details of what Happen in the movie because many have not yet seen in Japanese with English Sub Tittles,but when you do you will agree with Sir Derp Obito, it's their for you to see. My guess is that the Genjutsu was only really capable of temporarily distracting Hashirama...so most likely, Madara realized that Hashirama was using a Mokuton Buhnshin, and while he was still stabbed, it wasn't through the heart as Hashirama had intended (causing his wound).

As a result, Madara manages to escape death via altering the path of the blade's intended trajectory. He is in fact defeated on the ground; however, he was not dead as Hashirama had believed. I would imagine he would have acted as such under the context that had he just dissapeared (his collapsed body) with the Genjutsu's ending, Hashirama would have simply chased after him.

No not exactly Sir. The White/black zetsu combo was, but the origins of a Black Zetsu clone could have come much earlier.

The current Zetsu of both halves was created right before Madara died. But Madara obviously had the ability to make his Will into physical reality (Clone) before then. The black pole described in the manga below is infused with the Will of Madara (same as Black Zetsu) and this was being cultivated on the Mazou Plant a long time before this encounter with Obito. It shows that Madara had the ability to infuse his Will into physical shape before he ever created THAT version of Zetsu:
