How's it going? It's been a slow week.
I just wanted to make this thread today to show some interesting similarities I found between Naruto and some mythology.
So before I start, I decided to look into Limbo after reading this user's
So here is something I was thinking about regarding Limbo.
In Shinto Mythology, one of the sacred locations is Ashihara no Nakatsukuni.
It certainly did for me when I reread Madara and Obito's conversation.
"Between this world and the next young Uchiha"
Obviously Madara was not being literal, but it still got me thinking that:
Limbo is Ashihara no Nakatsukuni.
So regarding this place's origin and explanation:
So Limbo/Ashihara no Nakatsukuni would be the space between each location (Space between heaven & earth, etc.)
So how does this relate to the Narutoverse?
Rikudo Sennin also shaped the world using the Nunuboku sword.
It would make sense that the after effect from this helped result in the appearance of "Limbo."
And it would make sense that Madara knew about the world as well since he has intense Rinnegan knowledge and knows the Rikudo's jutsus. (bottom right)

Obviously Madara was not being literal, but it still got me thinking that:
Limbo is Ashihara no Nakatsukuni.
So regarding this place's origin and explanation:
- We know that in Japanese Mythology Izanagi and Izanami were the gods who shaped the world using the Sacred Amenonuboko (Naginata Spear)
