[Theory] The will of D.

So far. each person that inherits the will of D. and has been in the military, either quit or has been defected (Garp, Saul)

Every person that inherits the will also has been killed by the world government, with the exception of portgas D. rouge who died birthing someone who would be killed by the world government

Remember in the void century? The twenty kingdoms made a great alliance to take down the Ancient Kingdom, and they succeded, this forming the World Government.

Here's my theory, I believe while the war between the twenty kingdoms and the ancient kingdom were going on, several people from the ancient kingdom, One with Passion and a Happy go lucky attitude (The first Monkey D.), a Giant (The first Jaguar D.), the shady one who you really couldn't trust (The first Marshall D.), a blonde, kind female (The first Portgas D.), and the fearless one (The first Gol D.)

They made ponegylphs with their secrets, they knew they would die but they knew a new generation was upon them, that's why they greated it with a smile, and eventually they were killed in the aftermaths of the great war

Why have just about with the exception of rouge, all of the D.'s died under the hand of marines? It's fate. The reason why they hide the D. in the name of certain people like Gol D. Roger, is because they don't want people to know that it still exists.

The will to Destroy the world government.

they are simply the remnents of the descendants of the void country, D stands for descendant. IF it isnt that , it is destiny as every single story of every person with D. interlinks with eachother like a jigsaw , the destiny to change the world.

Garp was in the military and got out, and Jaguar got defected and killed.

It's coming soon for BB, garp's fate has already been proven, he doesn't approve of anything the world government does, he was about to go help luffy, and about to try and kill akainu.
I partly agree with the D = Descendant theory, but that would also mean they are descendants.

I think the D stands for douchebag x) No, seriously, it's a solid theory! Garp punches a lot of people, Blackbeard's crazy, Ace ran out on checks, Roger got easily pissed off! As for Saul and Rouge... Don't know

On a serious note, I believe it either stands for destiny or descendant. Both would make complete sense. And Gol D. Roger started the pirate era so that other people could find out about the void century, since it was too late for him to do anything about it

Great theory, seems plausible.

I think the Will of D is more of a spiritual/personality thing, people with the middle initial D sorta have the same ambitious, impulsive, and boisterous personality.

Now, the greater question is where the Will of D comes from. I agree with your theory that it may come from the poneglyphs, which tell the void century. Maybe the D's are descendants of those in the Ancient Kingdom.

Another point you missed out is everyone with a D in their name died with a smile...possibly linked who knows to early to tell, though I do think you have some parts right.

But I think the 20 countries teamed up against that 1 country and the people left clues as to why I mean it goes a lot further than just the WG I mean fishmen, Noah, Pluto and all the other weapons are also involved I think.
