I've always wondered why the Uchiha symbol was a fan. Is it because it resuscitates the embers of their will? Well I was teying to figure out if its symbollically deeper than just that by comparing it to another's.symbol. like the SO6P.

If you compare the SO6P symbol with the Uchiha symbol you will see a difference that means something. While the SO6P is full of different symbols meaning it has a lot of clans to depend on. On the other hand the Uchihas symbol looks isolated and distant from others. This could represent the clans final fate. Its definately a main subject in the story. Its what happened to Madara, Obito, Itachi, and its happening right now with Sasuke. They all end up alone with their revenge.Look where Madara ended up in his last days inside a cave connected to the juubis shell. Obito ended up in the same place sorta. Itachi worked for the worst criminal group in the ninja world and still kinda ended up dying inside a cave. What do you guys think?

In Japanese Shinto mythology the Fan is used to bring forth the Kamekaze (divine wind) and is usually associated with a war god. It is also associated with dragons and that may be why the Uchihas main element is fire.
Fire is also symbolic of passion, rage, hatred, power, the spirit, lust, and is usually a masculine element.
Hope that answers your question.

Wrong, the mythology is correct, but this one doesn't apply to the Uchiha symbol.

It goes back to the Uchiha's being based on the Tengu.
The fan is Sojobo's , the Tengu-King, symbol of status. His fan is made of seven feathers, Uchiha Sasuke has been shown holding a seven-feathered fan, referring back to the Tengu mythology.
