That's true.

Good example of that is Hitler and how he came into power. Through continuous lies and false promises to the people, he gained their trust.

I can ask you the exact, same questions. It's not as simple as acting on it. The amount of possibilities is unfathomable. I'm sure you are aware how most people would be eager to call outside-the-box-thinkers "crazy" or "conspiracy theorist nut". It is also true that our society is lacking in the department of good, intelligent people... but there ARE still people like that; Though they are dwarfed in comparison to the ignorant majority of society.

The best solution I can think of right now, is to spread love and positivity; To educate our fellow Human beings. Afterall, knowledge is power. Knowledge leads to truth, and truth leads to understanding. When we understand one another... great things can be accomplished. Sadly, there is no "quick-fix" solution. We are figuratively in a "war of information". "Fighting" & "struggling" to discern whether or not something is fact or fiction.

Edit: I'll provide some good quotes that pertain to this thread.
“If tyranny and oppression come to this land it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.”
- James Madison

"The thought that government has some kind of benevolent desire to NOT oppress those they govern is asinine, and proven wrong throughout history in every government in every nation. There is only ONE thing that will keep government from oppression, and that is an aggressively suspicious and well armed citizenry".
The hitler example, is a perfect example of what i made this thread about. Many people genuinely believed hitler was great. It was only the ones who looked at the truth, who saw him for what he was. Later the people woke up, and realized what he was as well. But by that time it was to late.

Good post.

Thanks. You can say Americans are in the same kind of situation. (Think about Patriot Act, NDAA, Gun control etc.)

Odds are very very slim, but it's not too late imho. I'm still very hopeful

Well as u said earlier the truth goes deeper..... Nearly all the powers during that era was corrupt and oppressive and Hitler was just dumber and much more charismatic of the big bullies . . . . Only America was somewhat innocent (if u discount the slave trade) cos of its isolationist policy.

'global warming is false' *shows examples of extreme weather conditions caused by global warming*
you clearly don't get global warming

'guns aren't for killing they are for innocent people defending themselves... by killing the attacker'
sounds like your political "facts" are just as bogus as the rest of them

I've read plenty of Dystopian fiction and have found similarities between our modern societies and the books "1984" and "A Brave New World". The former keeping society in fear through the media and making them believe the government is there for their security. The news and its sensationalism can be a perfect example. The latter book, the government dumbing people down with anti-intelligent media and drugs. Reality television and the easy access to mind affecting drugs. There are many times I have went to a psychiatrist and got prescribed something after the first session. When ever I was on said medication, I lacked personality, and becamre easily placated. I found myself much better of them and simply finding a hobby

Though the thought is scary, its hard to determine if there is actually an honest government that can work realistically? Sure, a lot of despotic governments are quite honest. "I am king you do what I say." Of course the extreme embellishment by Kim Jong Il can be used as an example of the exact opposite. In a democratic government would you be willing to read every page of every bill? Would millions of people be willing to do that? No, direct democracy is near impossible in a country this size. Sure you can still do your part by signing petitions and attending town hall meetings to at least change things on a local level. As for the national level, thats what those elections are for every two years. You are voting for someone to vote for you. Now are you going to have a congressman who will vote exactly the way you do? It is highly unlikely.

So the media is there to tell us how to think. It tries to make us focus on what separates us. Liberal, Conservative,Christian, Muslim, Etc. It's pitting us against each other, so it can be easier for us to pick who votes for us. We just pick the guy who fits under our label. And we depend on labels a lot. It tells us who are friends are, it tells us who to avoid, who to vote for, what to watch, and many other things in our day to day. That is why I don't try to label myself, I don't try to label others. I'm just me.

It's nice to see some people know how to think and aren't brainwashed by the media. I watch some of the political shows like on MSNBC and FOX and can see how they try to push their agenda onto people. It is really sad how people fall for it and don't try to think if what they are saying is true or not. I use to be the same way if it wasn't for a teacher I had in college. He gave everyone an assignment to read a book called "The Naked Capitalist" which described a lot about how things have come to be. I don't want to give too much info on it but I'd suggest you to read it. Probably like 10 buck on amazon. There have also been articles I have read about how countries have gone through the same thing we are going through now. I wonder why. If people actually tried to look for the facts, we wouldn't have people falling for those news programs that don't report news but push their own political agenda.
