Doesn't matter. Itachi was with Konoha all along so why would he want to kill Jiraiya when he knew he was the only one able to protect Naruto? The manga has been disproven time and time again. Sorry.

Didn't stop him from using Tsukuyomi on kakashi and sasuke, nearly killing them if not for tsunade.

That was never stated by Itachi.

Since they are the same in the databook all you have to do is look at individual skills

Jiraiya entering Sage mode does several things
1. Grants greatly increased speed and overall power
2. Grants immunity to genjutsu due to his dual frog summons used to sustain the form for extended periods
3. Gives Jiraiya soundbased genjutsu, which Itachi has no counter for

Even the invincible Itachi falls before hax genjutsu

Just as a side note, with the dust blowing jutsu, that cuts off Itachi's vast visual advantage to a miniscule amount, hardly worth mentioning
