I’ve been thinking lately about YIN YANG. I have a thread about FTG being a YIN YANG and others don’t agree with this, so I decided to make this thread to express my opinion and what I know about YIN YANG. So, what is YIN YANG?
Yin-Yang represents the ancient Chinese understanding of how things work. The outer circle represents "everything", while the black and white shapes within the circle represent the interaction of two energies, called "yin" (black) and "yang" (white), which cause everything to happen. They are not completely black or white, just as things in life are not completely black or white, and they cannot exist without each other.
It’s very clear that Kishi uses this philosophy to a different way. He uses it as an ELEMENT present in a person’s chakra. It’s not the same as in the Chinese philosophy because the Chinese believes that YIN and YANG cannot exists without the other because they needed each other to form life. A perfect example in real life is the human being.
In Naruto, the Sage uses his imaginationand spiritual energy to form the basis of YIN power which he then used to create form from nothingness. He administered vitalityand physical energy to form the basis of YANG power and used it to breath life into the form he created or make the form real, thus creating the tailed beasts. Tobi here described YIN YANG as an elemental power.
To produce a chakra one must mould physical energy (身体エネルギー, shintai enerugī) present in every cell of the body and the spiritual energy (精神エネルギー, seishin enerugī) gained from exercise and experience.
Chakra = physical energy + spiritual energy= basis of all ninjutsu, genjutsu, dojutsu
Every ninja has a natural affinity. By using a special paper, one can determine the affinity that he/she is skilled at but it does not mean that they are only limited to one affinity because they have the capacity to create elemental chakra apart from their own affinity by changing the physical properties of chakra. It’s possible that a ninja of high calibre can use all elements including YIN YANG because these elements are present in a chakra.
The question is, is it that simple? No! YIN YANG = imagination + spiritual energy + vitality + physical energy moulded together to form a NINJUTSU. This formula is based on how the Sage uses YIN YANG element to form a ninjutsu.
NOTE: Izanagi was originally a jutsu used by the Sage to create life. In here,
Is it possible for someone other than the sage to be able to use YIN YANG? Yes. YIN YANG is not KKG which is special to a certain clan. Yamato here mentioned the quality control of YIN and YANG
Yin and Yang deals with changing the ratio of spiritual and physical energies within chakra. A good example I can think of is the Tailed Beast Bomb where the user can change the ratio of the chakra, but is it the same as how it was described by TOBI? We’ll see....
It was said in that the tailed beast chakra consists of positive and negative chakra. It was not said being YIN and YANG or Physical energy and Spiritual energy. Tailed beasts are living forms of chakra, so it’s different from a chakra of a human because a human’s chakra consists of physical energy and spiritual energy. Tailed beasts does not have spiritual energy(i.e soul) or even physical energy. They can’t die. Human’s die without a soul or body. In short, we needed both to live. Tailed Beasts are living forms of chakra. They are nothing but chakra.
Since TBB is formed by changing the ratio of the positive and negative chakra, can we call it a YIN YANG technique? I don’t think so. YIN YANG technique is formed by using 4 components, imagination + spiritual energy + vitality + physical energy.
It was said that Yin and Yang is the source of non-elemental techniques such as the Shadow Imitation Technique, Multi-Size Technique, medical ninjutsu, genjutsu.
Why do you think that YIN YANG is the source of Shadow Imitation Technique, Multi-Size Technique, medical ninjutsu, genjutsu? It’s simple. These techniques can't be categorized under Shape Transformation or the basic 5 elements of Nature Transformation.
Shape Transformation deals with controlling the form, movement, and potency of chakra.
Nature Transformation usually deals with changing the physical properties of chakra into an element.
Conclusion: Everyone is capable of using YIN YANG because it is an element present in a chakra or a chakra nature but the technique depends on the mastery of the user to form YIN release and Yang release. YIN YANG might be the hardest element to form.
Now, where will we put FTG or space-time techniques? Is it possible that it is a YIN YANG type of technique? For me yes, how about you?

Tobi used it differently but the concept is the same. Tobi uses Izanagi to connect illusion and reality. The Sage uses form and give life to it. It is clear that YIN YANG can also be imagination, illusion, etc + spiritual energy + vitality, etc + physical energy. It depends on how the user wants it to be used.Is it possible for someone other than the sage to be able to use YIN YANG? Yes. YIN YANG is not KKG which is special to a certain clan.
