So far the only problem i'm seeing with you not liking it is the fact they released it on dvd.. there are PLENTY of dvd movies that can put down theater movies..

The Lion King 1 started the Golden Era of Disney xD

Had Elton John, african choirs and some amaaaazing talent in it, it's a classic. Lion King 2 is a cheaply made straight-to-DVD sequel Disney did in the late 90s to make a little bit of money whilst putting as little effort as possible into them is all i'm saying. It wasn't made to be a good film, just to catch some money from the success of the first without spending much money on the animation or film quality.

No shit sherlock did you figure that out on your own? XD Its still a good movie with a good message for the kids. Just cuz its not Lion King 1 doesn't mean its not a good movie

I don't like cheap films with no heart in them. This is a soulless film because it was made for the sake of it, for nothing but money. It was a story made for money rather than the other way round.

That basically is it for most movies. They saw that lion king could be a hit, and bam they made it. All for money. Dvd doesn't make that many money.. I mean if they wanted money they would have released it in theaters.

........... Dude Lion king 1 was made for money, idk what fantasy world you're living in where the 1st movie has heart but everything else is just for money ideology.

Lion King is a kids version of Hamlet, its not original, it has no heart, no soul. Its just a classic. But was made for money. Nothing else.

Lion King 2 is a kids version of Romeo and Juliet, its not original, it has no heart, no soul. Its a sequel. Made for money. Nothing else.

So what you're telling me is that there is no creative process in the whole business? It's the studios and distributors that make it the business, but films come from somewhere. The whole filmmaking process is a creative one with writers and actors and directors (hopefully passionately) putting months and months of manpower and dedication to the film.

If that were true that every film is about the $$$ we would have no Hitchcock, no Citizen Kane or anymore creative stories. The Lion King wasn't a formulaic money-maker, it wasn't made with amazingly huge actors or directors, aim specifically at the easy money audience of kids, had a plot that was a homage to 'Hamlet' (of all things) and it didn't even have a familiar setting. I'm surprised it did as well as it did, but the reason it did was because it was like, pretty much a masterpiece.

Film broke away from being a factory back in the 1950s with the de-establishment of the Hollywood Studio System. Creativity now is encouraged and films are generally only made (other than franchises) to tell stories. The dressing up by money-making studios is done at the end, with advertising and distribution.

But then you get generic summer blockbusters, weak sequels and franchises and films that are nothing but products of distributors are shallow and empty. A sequel is an easy way out without adding much effort.

Films AREN'T all about making money and I pretty much hate that statement xD (oh damn i went all film theory uhghhh sorry)
