OK I'm going to tell you and everyone on this site what makes the byakugan one of the best KG's. the byakugan is not weak and can actually defeat a regular 3 tomoe sharingan user (not mangekyo). there is a reason why no ninja alive would fight them hand to hand unless they also have a special ability (i.e. bone's (kimmimaru), susanoo, space time ninjutsu etc etc).
1. the byakugan depending on the user has a wide field of vision. the byakugan normally has only 50 meters of range vision. but in shippuden neji increased his vision range to 800 meters
2. it gives them the ability to see thru almost everything with like a x-ray vision ability. and also the tiniest thing with micro scopic vision
3. the hyuga clan is the best form of taijutsu because it atks ur inside rather then out
4.with the byakugan, like the sharingan they can predict movements, but in a different way.. they can sense everything around them
5. with the byakugan you can admit chakra around you so that you can control everything around you to a certain extant
6. with the byakugan your ability to control ur chakra is so great that u can admit chakra (that only sharingan, and byakugan can see) to control and use to ur advantage
7. with the byakugan it gives you the ability to completely control ur chakra at any point and any part of ur body, only a byakugan user has that ability.
8. they also have long distance moves such as the 8 trigrams empty palms, a move that shoots chakra out of the palm
9. with their complete control of chakra their is no genjutsu that can eft them for long (can argue tsukiomi, but thats a super genjutsu.lol).
10. one thing that alot of ppl (99% of you) dont realize is that with the byakugan their ability to control chakra is so great that they can admit a chakra like barrier (big or small depending on the user) so they can sense, see, and even make objects or even the opponent do what they want to further gain the momentum in a fight
11. the only blind spot a byakugan user has is a small spot on his neck
12. they can pump chakra into any object and stun the opponent just by touching them.
13. and with one hit it can be all over if they please..
it may not seem as though the byakugan is not precious but that is completely the opposite! the hidden cloud village signed a treaty with the leaf, but there true plan from the get go was to steal a hinata because of her byakugan
overall the byakugan has not been shown enough to show the full extent of its power. but what we've seen from neji, his uncle hiashi (the leader of the hyugas) should be one to reckon with hopefully in due time kishi will show the hyuga brothers (hiashi vs. hizashi) so we can see the true power of the byakugan... any questions?

. Also, the hidden mist village obtained a byakugan and AO now has it and they cherish it like gold and even the mizukage threaten the hokage (danzou sub hokage) that she would also protected it

. As a fail safe they designed a seal that would automatically seal/barrier or the defend the byakugan if threaten
