The incredible power of Hashirama has been discussed many times in the Base. However, since the last manga release we might know the origin of his hype.

Until now everything we know about him is:
-He has ridiculous chakra reserves.
-He is the only Mokuton user. (not counting Yamato, Danzo, etc. as they adquired it thanks to Hashi)
-He uses Senjutsu.

Now, the questions that some people might ask are:
-Why does he have that much chakra?
-Why is he the only one in his clan, and possibly the Narutoverse, able to use the Mokuton?

While reading the last release I realized what the answers to these questions might be:

The God Tree's Forbidden Fruit

Hashirama may have eaten the the fruit. Why do I think this?

-Firstly, Madara said something very important:

"Do you want me to explain what happened afterward to the person who ate the forbidden fruit to stop the struggle?" He says it as if Hashirama already knew it. Basically because it was himself.
The *********** translation says something similar:

"Man tried to stop war by getting their hands on the fruit... I don't need to explain to you how that worked out, do I?"

-The forbidden fruit appears once every millennium, it's perfectly possible to assume that more than 1000 years passed since the last time it appeared, as every shinobi and even the samurais are descendants of the Sage's mom. It takes some time to have that many grand-grand-grand-grand-grandchildren. The fruit could have appeared in some rests of the God Tree (roots, branches, who knows?) and he could have found it or searched it (if he knew about its existence thanks to some Senju stone shrine).

-Hashirama has an incredible amount of chakra. You could say that it is because of his Senju lineage, but Tobirama himself pales in comparison with his brother. These ridiculous chakra reserves may be due to the ingestion of this powerful fruit.

-Hashirama is the only Mokuton user we know in Narutoverse (not counting Yamato, etc.), nobody in his clan has it. The interesting thing about this are the similarities between his Mokuton and the God Tree.

The God Tree absorbs chakra just like Hashi's Wood Dragon.

-At last, Hashirama is the oldest character that uses Senjutsu, and the Juubi aka God Tree is a huge amount of Senjutsu Chakra. Did you notice he almost didn't spend time collecting Senjutsu chakra in his fight with Madara or against the Juubi?

In my opinion, Hashirama ate the fruit to stop the wars and adquired amazing abilities, including the Mokuton, we never saw a kid Hashirama use Mokuton, the first time we see him use it, he is already older... after eating the fruit.

We know Senju DNA is one of the most important and powerful things everybody wants. It should be called Hashirama DNA, as not every Senju's DNA works. Even Madara fought him to obtain this power.
Maybe he needed it to obtain the Rinnegan, maybe he needed it to create the Gedo Mazo, or maybe he needed the Shinsuusenju to use it as the Juubi's shell.

The only Problem I see with this is how did he eat the fruit without the Juubi present?
This this this!!!! But the other problem is were assuming he was hinting that hashi ate the fruit. He was just saying do i need to explain something to you that common sense should have explained already. Of course it didnt stop war, because it was Hashi and Maddys dream to end war, they inherited shinobi warfare due to the hermits mother's act of eating the fruit.

Very insightful theory. I can can agree with you concerning the possiblilty that Hashirama got his mokuton by eating the fruit but if plot history is correct, the sage also had the eyes and spiritual energy. Interesting theory all the same. Lets see what Kishi has in store for us

"Man tried to stop war by getting their hands on the fruit... I don't need to explain to you how that worked out, do I?"

Dude... The answer is a simple word : HISTORY. Madara says he doesn't have to explain what happened after man tried to stop war by getting their hands on the fruit simply because himself and Hashi lived it : even more war. He meant that mankind failed to stop war..

This.
Interesting idea though.

And one other thing while your theory would explain Hashi's power the fact is there should have been no way of him to actually eat the fruit, the Juubi was LONG separated before then.

Wow.... did this OP even read Naruto before today?

1) Hashirama didnt eat any fruit, because by the time he was born, Rikodou has long past seperated the Juubi into the tailed beats.
2) Madara didnt create the Mazou, once he awakened the Rinnegan he was able to summon it from within the moon.

I like that you have taken time and effort into making this.
It is very intricate and amazing. If it was hinting more to this in
The manga i would totally believe you :D

But i dont see this as an option, remember we saw hashi when he was little, he couldnt show his ninjutsu
Cos it could blow his cover, besides almost none young shinobi
Knows how to use ninjutsu in such age. I will use naruto as example tough
He was a late bloomer.

Antyways really interesting you deserve a rep! :)

I want to add something to your analysis too: instead of searcching for the fruit, it was quite big
I dont think a tiny woman could eat it alone.. maybe it was passed down trough generations and that was the reason
There were wars?
This could be a possible way he got to eat the fruit.

I know that the Juubi/God Tree no longer existed by the time Hashirama and Madara were alive, but we've seen bigger asspulls by Kishimoto.

The juubi fruit still existing with out a tree to produce it...? I doubt Kishi has ever pulled anything out of his ass that big.hmm

Nice thoughts but i highly doubt it... Hashi had no idea what was going on when juubi went into its final form, so he clearly knows nothing about the fruit.

"Do you want me to explain what happened afterward to the person who ate the forbidden fruit to stop the struggle?"
And this is madara opening hashi's eye to the fact that with or without the knowledge of chakra, war and death is inevitable. He's is definitely not implying that hashi ate the fruit, he's simply allowing hashi to finally realise what and why his dream is what it is... Eternal Peace!!!!

Yes, you can see Hashi thinking deeply as Madara's words marinate. And you can see that Madara is not as "Evil" as he's made out to be. His logic is actually looking like the only true way. Think about it. After the war is over, you can't possibly think that the alliance will continue. It's just a last-ditch-effort to avoid world domination. Without cause to unite, the villages will go back to war.
