First of all, for anyone about to read this who hasn't read the newest Avatar comic trilogy: The Search, or do not want to be spoiled, leave now.

Spoilers below.

This whole story is frustrating to me, because I still think this should have been an animated series, but moreover, I think this completely destroyed Zuko's story. I feel that it infringed upon everything his character was, and drastically.

I mean, Uncle Iroh isn't even Zuko's uncle?! What's worse, he's not even Ozai's son, which I feel was a huge gap he had to overcome that was just brushed aside as if it were meaningless.

It's so annoying that the creator's completely re-do Zuko's story, and worse, they do it through a comic, that honestly, most have never even heard of. (And I hope it stays that way for ATLA's sake)

Quite honestly, I loved the whole "Son of the Devil" vibe I got from Zuko, and now I realize that that was never the case because Ursa went and got pregnant right before she married Ozai.

I admit, Ursa's story was sad, but this random guy being Zuko's father over Ozai is purely frustrating to me.

I'm just going to pretend I never read this story.

Where can I find The Search? You seem like you didn't like it from the first few sentences but I stopped so I wouldn't spoil it for myself :p. Where did you read it at?

And yes, I strongly disliked it. But, everyone likes different things so it's worth a shot.

I really wonder why we bother still sticky threads: .

And yeah I had some very mixed feelings about Zuko not being Ozai's biological son as it went completely against one of the most important turns of the series, namely that Zuko was born with the contradiction of Sozin vs Roku. However that doesn't apply anymore. Still I find it way too early to judge it as there are still two more parts coming.

I wonder why would Ozai still accept Zuko after the victory @ Ba Sin Se if he knew that Zuko wasn't his son?

What did Ozai do after he read that letter? Im guessing he played along as if he never saw that letter...

Why? Because if he tried to do something about it he would've banish Ursa and Zuko but he didn't

Because if Ozai and Azula didn't lie, Ursa was banished because she helped Ozai kill Azulon after Azulon ordered Ozai to kill Zuko so he could suffer the lose of a child after he mocked Iroh for losing @ Ba Sin Se after his son died. Ursa took the blame and that way saved Zuko's life but got banished since that was an act of a traitor to the Fire Nation

What Im trying to say is that no one got banished after Ozai intercepted the letter, I find this hard to believe since (well we know Ozai's personality)

I go as far as to call this a type of plot-hole or not remembering the history and personality of the characters you created, just like Kishi does all the time...

How did I not know this section existed? :vincent:

Personally, I'm finding it interesting reading the backstory of Ursa and how she came to be Fire Princess. I'm not sure if I like Zuko not being Ozai's son, but it solves an issue I've been having with the series. Have any of you realized that Azule (if Zuko really isn't Ozai's son) is technically a product of inbreeding? Avatar Roku married the sister of Fire Lord Sozin. Ursa is the granddaughter of Roku. To have her marry Fire Prince Ozai, the grandson of Fire Lord Sozin, leaves the potential for one messed up family.

To me, having Zuko not be a product of this explains why he wasn't crazy like Ozai and Azula. Although, I will agree that it takes away from the "inner tug of war" Iroh explained to Zuko.

It's Gene Yang guys. Glorified fanfic writer hired by Bryke and Nick to reel in the money.

We'll find out it's nothing but unfounded worry and Zuko's really Ozai's son. Cue going back to the palace, cutting to Zuko in Ozai's cell with Ozai laughing hard.

I don't really see a plothole, at least not yet.

For starters when Ozai intercepted that letter, he wasn't the Firelord yet, in fact he was only the 3rd in line to succeed Azulon, who was still alive, after Iroh and Lu-Ten. So he himself can't just start banishing people left and right without a reason, especially not when it concerns his wife and 'son'. Even more so because they are both Avatar Roku's descendants, which was the reason as why Urza was married to Ozai. So Ursa by default still had some 'use' + even Zuko might some day become useful for them just because he has Roku's blood too. Finally it was also in Ozai's best interest to not get this out, highly likely Azulon wasn't even aware of this, I mean the wife of the prince got a son which they thought was his, but was in fact from some lowly peasant, pretty much making Zuko a bastard child. Talking about a humiliation. This was probably the reason as why he hated Zuko so much.

It was in his best interest that this did not become known and disposing of both Ursa and Zuko is going to raise questions, not in the least with Azulon. Years later however the situation was entirely different. Azulon was old, Lu-Ten was dead, Iroh mentally broken and above all his 2nd child was a prodigy and this one was certainly his. So he had neither a use for Ursa nor Zuko anymore.

And there are still two more parts, so it's too early to make a definite conclusion.

Wait a minute didn't azula burn the letter she found, so I really think the one zuko found with azula is a fake.
Maybe Azula wrote the letter and wanted zuko to see it, I'm just guessing here.
