You made so good points but I think the main reason the sword broke the fact that obito's conviction was not solid if you remember all through the fight with naruto he was testing him and making similarity with naruto and himself wihich mean he was fight with himself, Kakashi even mention it like obito was trying to validate his reason doing this. In doing this his blade was blunt no conviction in his attack which caused it the break. Even the what if flash back proved it that he was questioning his resolve...

That would all depend on Madara's TRUE intentions, whether he really wants to create a world of peace, or just have the world at his control.

In this chapter, we saw the first appearence of the Sword of Nunoboko, owned by the Sage of the Six Paths.

Many people will say "It was crafted by the Sage, the most powerful character in the series, it's unbeatable".

But it was broken so easily, that it was almost laughable. But, here's why:

When Obito first formed the Sword he said " The Sage's strong feelings dwell inside it, it's a sword of the soul".

But look, it's the Sage's FEELINGS. Not his will, which is not even comparable to any character.

The Sage went through hell protecting the world from the Juubi, the Sage's feelings are to protect the world, which Obito contradicted by saying he would destroy the world with the same sword.

This gave me the idea that the sword is only as powerful as the will to protect the world of the one who wields it.

Obito has no desire to protect the world, which is why it broke laughably easy.

Also, Obito called it " a sword of the soul " , before Obito came to strike the PS sword with the Sage's sword, he had a daydream of what it would be like if he stayed in the village, which gave me another idea, Obito's soul is weak, since it can't decide anymore whether the path he chose was the right one.

I think this is why the Sword was so useless for Obito, his feelings were not compatiable to the sword, and his soul was not strong enough to match the soul of the Sage.

For this swords true potential to be utilized, I think you need to have feelings similar to the Sage, to protect the world at all costs, and have a head strong soul which doesn't question any decision you make.

From now on when you think of the sword, think of this:

" The sword is only as strong as your feelings to protect the world."

Agreed. That was pretty much spelled out in the chapter with the flashback though, I dont think thats a revelation for anybody.

I agree with this thread but I look forward to the future rather than staying in the past. Madara's timd is here and the battle of blood shed will begin. I'm actually looking forward to that.

It is the sword of life. The double helix is the backbone for all living things. Such power cannot be taken likely.
