In this chapter, we saw the first appearence of the Sword of Nunoboko, owned by the Sage of the Six Paths.

Many people will say "It was crafted by the Sage, the most powerful character in the series, it's unbeatable".

But it was broken so easily, that it was almost laughable. But, here's why:

When Obito first formed the Sword he said " The Sage's strong feelings dwell inside it, it's a sword of the soul".

But look, it's the Sage's FEELINGS. Not his will, which is not even comparable to any character.

The Sage went through hell protecting the world from the Juubi, the Sage's feelings are to protect the world, which Obito contradicted by saying he would destroy the world with the same sword.

This gave me the idea that the sword is only as powerful as the will to protect the world of the one who wields it.

Obito has no desire to protect the world, which is why it broke laughably easy.

Also, Obito called it " a sword of the soul " , before Obito came to strike the PS sword with the Sage's sword, he had a daydream of what it would be like if he stayed in the village, which gave me another idea, Obito's soul is weak, since it can't decide anymore whether the path he chose was the right one.

I think this is why the Sword was so useless for Obito, his feelings were not compatiable to the sword, and his soul was not strong enough to match the soul of the Sage.

For this swords true potential to be utilized, I think you need to have feelings similar to the Sage, to protect the world at all costs, and have a head strong soul which doesn't question any decision you make.

From now on when you think of the sword, think of this:

" The sword is only as strong as your feelings to protect the world."

Let me know what you guys think about this.

You could be very correct. I think Hagoromo had the sword after becoming a jinchuuriki. Obito said he used it to create the world... I don't get that phrase.

Maybe he meant the Shinobi world, by showing people just how powerful chakra really is, he made people want to utilize it for strength.

I think it could be that, or he used it to end the previous world, to make a world of chakras.

Possibly. But, then the sword of the soul thing feels like a real rip off from Bleach.

So your saying that only Naruto can use it .

It makes sense because Naruto did cleared all of the hatred from his soul and clearly Naruto is the reincarnation of the
Sage himself . I like where this is going . =D

yeah i agree when he said it has the sages feelings it means the users feelings since obito is the second hermit of the 6 paths and it was so weak because at that time obito was having second thoughts about himself= he was weak his feelings where bieng doubted therefore the sword broke so easily

yes indeed I agree! this is good. but idk about naruto getting the sword, perhaps he shall. But I agree, Obito contradicted himself, and that was his downfall. good theory.

Pretty much what I said about Obito's soul second guessing his decisions.

I personally don't want Naruto to have this sword, and if he does, I would rather him seal it away and only be used for worst case scenarios in the future, if the sword really is as powerful as many of us think, me included, it shouldn't be something to be carried around.

Excellent observation that pretty much sums it up. I know Obito must have limited info on it which is why he would fail to use it to it's fullest but he also mentioned that this sword was used to create the world why would he say that? I'm probably stretching it but perhaps this means it was not simply a weapon but a tool used to create stuff like jutsu, idk, maybe? You might also notice it has an odd shape not like that of a sword but of a strand of DNA the building blocks of life.
