Chapter 12: Kekkei Genki
Kaguya provided invaluable insight into these blood limits. It never occurred to me that others might have also experienced a change in their body and as this change combined with chakra. It allowed others to gain unique skills.
I asked the seven special cases to seperate into those who were abandoned for mutations and those who weren't. The group separated. Four said they were not mutated. The other three were mutated. The group of three included Kaguya, Yuuki, and finally, Uzima.
I took a look at all of their chakra networks. They all possessed a unique chakra structure. Kaguya had his chakra network close to his skeleton, allowing him to use his bones for combat. Yuuki, seemed to have two shades of chakra color, that intertwined together, as did Uzima. Having found Kaguya's skill, I moved to figure out how Yuuki and Uzima could use chakra. I placed my hands on their heads to try to feel their chakra nature. From Yuuki I felt the wetness of water and the razor edge of wind. However, it was a third sensation I didn't understand. While her other elements were flowing, this strange element from their combination was solid, and cold. I thought for a moment.
"You possess nature elements, but it seems the two you have can combine somehow, I have a theory, but you will have to get a quick lesson in your known elements," I told her before giving her a quick and specified lesson in Mizudo and Kazedo. I was surprised that she actually got them both down very quickly, even faster then the main group that got their elements first. "Now that you have those, I have an experiment. Go over to the pond over there and pour the chakra from the third element into it. I wish to see what happens," I commanded.
"Very well," she said as she walked over and put her hand in the water and concentrated. As if by magic the water grew colder and colder until it instantaneously turned to a thick layer of ice. She pulled her hand back out of surprise. "How did I?" she asked in surprise.
"I believe that both Uzima's and your mutations somehow allow you to combine natures. You can make Ice," I said before turning to Uzima. She looked at me somewhat confused. She nodded as if telling me to proceed. I placed my hand on her head. Her chakra was part water, and part stone. As I felt her combining chakra, again it was unlike anything from before. Suddenly, I felt a surge of life energy flow through me, forcing me to take my hand off of her head. She screamed suddenly, staring and pointing towards the ground. I looked, and to my amazement, grass, flowers and even saplings began to rise from the ground around her feet. I stood in disbelief, watching as the saplings grew taller and taller and became small trees covered in leaves. I was without words as three fully grown trees had appeared from no-where around Uzima.
"The power to create entire forests?" I muttered to myself in both awe and disbelief. Everybody that I was teaching stood around me and looked at the trees and at Uzima. She couldn't believe it herself. I moved to talk to her, but before I could reach her, she barreled off and ran inside. I wanted to go after her, but I was stopped by Son.
"She just had her entire world view change. She discovered a tremendous power. She doesn't understand yet. Give her time," He said calmly. The sun began to set.
"We will continue tomorrow. Once we have all mastered our skills, we shall find out next path. Until then everybody get some rest," I said in frustration as I went back to the orphanage and ran inside. I went upstairs to the second floor and up to Uzima's room. The door was closed, which was a rarity. I knocked. No answer. I tried calling her name, for a moment only silence.
"I don't want to talk right now, Tengen. Please forgive me," she finally said after a few minutes. Disappointed, I went to my room to lie down.

A few days went by. I worked with the others of the group of seven. Kaguya and Yuuki began to create techniques with their Kekki Genki. I began to work with the three without mutations. One of them had actually figured it out on his own by accident. He learned that there are blocks in the chakra network that limit the chakra flow. By accident he managed to open one of them and gained tremendous power. I looked at his chakra network. Along with having no nature affiliation, I discovered that in all of us were 8 gate like spots in the body that seemed to restrict the flow of chakra. Together we named them the 8 gates. Akihiro, devoted his training to what he called, Taido, which he nicknamed "strong fist," a martial art that uses chakra to increase strength. I supported his decision, warning him only that those barriers must be there for a reason, and to not try to open all 8. I told him this because I saw that the final gate was close to his heart, and would surely kill him if opened.
The last three presented a problem. They possessed no real nature elements to speak of and had no real mutations to work with. I was stumped. I asked them if they wanted to train in Akihiro's method and they all refused. I looked at what could only be described as a group of misfits. The over-weight Akimichi, the lazy Nara, and the invasive Yamanaka. I had the most difficulty coming up with how to give them a unique training experience.
"Wait a few days while I try to develop techniques for you. Until then, concentrate on your chakra. For each of you I will create a technique only for your use that fits your personality, and style," They all agreed as I began my work.
It did not take long for me to make a technique for Akimichi. For him I created Chakra calories. The ability to turn chakra into fat or calories and visa verse. The purpose of the technique would be to allow him to expand and retract in size. He was very pleased with the results. Nara preferred not to take to take things head on, and would rather trap them. For him, I created the shadow possession technique, which would allow him to take control of his opponent's shadow and manipulate their movements. He too was pleased. For Yamanaka, I had the greatest difficulty. For her I created the mind transfer technique which would allow her to change bodies with a foe. She too was pleased.
With all of my students now happily training, I could finally rest and work on my own problems and techniques. However, Uzima continued to seclude herself. Just as I thought she would never come out, one night I heard her leave the orphan house, late at night and run outside. I followed close behind. She ran out into the woods and stopped until she was in a clearing. I hid from a distance. I watched her pick up a clump of dirt. She looked at it, and focused her chakra into it. I watched as a small rose grew from the patch in an instant.
She continued to stare at it, unsure.
"Uzima, why does this upset you so?" I asked after walking up behind her. I startled her, but after she saw it was me, she calmed down.
"I have the power to create life...Being told that I would never be able to bear a child, I always thought being able to create life was out of my reach. Why wouldn't this be exciting? Well... this isn't right. To create life like this...It is the place of gods...not me. Why did I have to lose my mortal ability to create life in exchange for a blasphemous one?" she said as she almost burst into tears.
"Uzima, this world is a strange place. The gods that govern this world must have decided that they wanted you to wield this power. It is fate. Do not be saddened by a gift," I explained as I wiped her tear.
"Thank you, Tengen... but this is something I have to learn to accept on my own. I am not yet ready to accept this power," she said as she began to walk away. She turned and gave me a kiss on the cheek, and handed me her rose, before walking back home. I stood there, watching. Wishing.
