I'm fairly certain that the Uchiha DOES implant the brother's eyes to reach EMS. However, the result IS a "fusion" in which their powers are combined. The eye itself is clearly reborn after the transplant, because the blindness is healed and the Doujutsu receives a power-up.

I'd call the Doujutsu itself "Madara's" because he awakened it and it was just as much a result of his own power as it was Izuna's. However, there's a reason he was Rinne Tensei'd without eyes. He didn't have his originals.

Madara has two sets of rinnegan though, his original eyes (the ones Nagato awakened, which Obito took. The one Obito had up until this point and the one Madara has in his face now are Madaras original eyes) and Izuna's eyes (the rinnegan that Madara had just after being fully revived). The one that Madara is using now is his original set of eyes.

Didn't Jiraiya state that Nagato awakened those rinnegan during the Yahiko incident when they were kids? Tbh, ever since the sage saying that it was the combination of the brothers chakra that resulted in the rinnegan, I've been confused about Nagato.

Either way, it doesn't change the fact that there were two sets of rinnegan during the war lol
