In 561 - The power in a Name Madara mentions that the original intention of the impure world resurrection was to "wipe the map clean, along with it's caster".
As we all are led to believe, Tobirama - the Nidaime hokage was the creator of this. But what possible reason could he have for wanting, or needing to "wipe the map clean"? Considering he was obviously strong and capable of not needing to do so and also apparently quite confident in his own abilities.
But my, let's say prediction/theory is that he (Tobirama) knew of Madara's survival against Hashirama - as Hashirama died shortly after all these wars had happened. He knowing Madara had obtained considerable strength wanted a way to beat him, even if it meant having himself go down also.
Madara somehow knew the intention of the impure world Resurrection, so maybe this suggests that Madara and Tobirama had some sort of confrontation - explaining the latter's knowledge of the former's survival. Although Madara's death is very vague - could Tobirama have been the one to have finished off Madara?
