I always assumed that Tsukuyomi could work on other Uchiha, but would either be less effective on them or more easily broken by them.

Great thread. I have a question though. Itachi/Kishi stated Only Sharingan Users of the same blood line can break out Tsukyomi but it also says jin can disrupt genjutsu if the jin allows their chakra to interfere. So can a jin actually break out of Itachi Tsukyomi?

Rereading and rewatching the scene, Sasuke appeared to only activate the curse mark in the illusion. Sasuke broke the genjutsu in his base form. Sasuke was able to escape and in reverse some of the effects back on Itachi due to his training with Orochimaru and increased skill with his sharingan.

I actually thought this was the case since the beginning, but I dont think the CM increased his genjutsu x10. Even if it was the Cursed Seal of Heaven. The CM elevated Sasuke's sharingan to the point he close the gap between Itachi's genjutsu and his own. Saying Itachi=x10 Sasuke doesnt sound right.

Factual, no. Genjutsu: Kai won't work in the case of Tsukuyomi. Anyway, there is no surety that Kai works on any other Genjutsu. Above all it depends on the individual abilities of every Shinobi.
On the other hand the caster of Tsukuyomi is able to control time inside that illusion. Even a few seconds are enough to have a nervous breakdown-according to the databook.

Tsukuyomi isn't without a reason the third strongest Genjutsu.

I agree with your theory. He had to have used the cm to break out of it. I also believe that even though Itachi's Tsukiyomi can last a second in the real world, he prolonged it during his fight with Sasuke in order to give him enough time to break it. After all, he wasn't serious and just wanted to push Sasuke to his limits so that Oro would come out. That was brought up in this thread by TBogard:

I don't see any reason why Itachi wouldn't be able to do so, also Zetsu noticed that it was occuring, so it must have lasted more than a second. Obito also mentioned in a manga panel that every part of the fight was planned, even the contingencies & in the next panel, there is a flashback of Itachi's Tsukiyomi being broken. I also don't see how one could break Itachi's Tsukiyomi if they looked directly into his eyes and he was to make it last only a second in the real world and as long as he wanted to in the genjutsu. How can you even have enough time to gather enough chakra in order to break a genjutsu that lasts only a second?

No, sasuke broke out of tsukyomi on his own-the whole curse mark thing was in the illusion. Although I do believe itachi could have made the genjutsu stronger. Current sasuke definitely breaks out of it though....

The only reason why sasuke escaped is because itachi prolonged the genjutsu to allow him to escape.

In actuality itachi defeated sasuke the minute he got hit with tsukuyomi.

It doesn't matter if you can defeat the genjutsu or not. Because it affects you in an instant, not even leaving you a room to break it.

The only way sasuke can break tsukyomi is if itachi chooses not to make the effects instant. Can he break tsukyomi, yes. Can he break the instant tsukyomi that hit Kakashi? No, I don't see it happening.
