The real reason why Sasuke broke out of Tsukyomi that everyone overlooked

Remember when Sasuke broke out of Itachi's tsukyomi?

We assumed that this was the reason.

However, recent fact have given us a different conclusion. Look at the first scans I posted. Sasuke went Curse Seal V2 in the illusion(which means that's the state his chakra was in). The curse seal, as we all know, is a form of senjutsu. Here's something that Fukasaku said about senjutsu and genjutsu.

Genjutsu is enhanced by senjutsu. In other words, Sasuke enhanced the genjutsu power of his own eyes in order to break out of tsukyomi and it was not merely the natural potential of Sasuke's eyes.


Now the big question is this.... How much was Sasuke's eyes enhanced in order to have his genjutsu match Itachi's. Well, here's what Jirobo said about Curse Mark V2.

So in order to break out, Sasuke had to increase his genjutsu breaking abilities over 10X their abilities!


It appears that Itachi's Tsukyomi can, in fact, be used against other Uchihas and is not useless against them. Just thought I'd share this.

I see no evidence of that, but regardless, I do think normally, even an Uchiha can't break out of it.

Hm...Nice theory. I believe Jiroubo might have been referring to his physical strength however. It's noteworthy that Kabuto referred to the Curse Mark as a mere parlor trick, and Sasuke has a different version of the curse mark as well.

I doubt Kabuto understood the CM's completely, otherwise he would've revived Orochimaru the second he got.

I doubt it. While Itachi wasn't aiming to kill him, he wasn't just handing him a win either. The entire fight was to test his strength's improvement.

Rereading and rewatching the scene, Sasuke appeared to only activate the curse mark in the illusion. Sasuke broke the genjutsu in his base form. Sasuke was able to escape and in reverse some of the effects back on Itachi due to his training with Orochimaru and increased skill with his sharingan.

Nice theory, that and itachi's lack of intent to kill was the reason sasuke broke out of Tsukyiomi IMO.

For the past few months I've rarely posted anything remotely serious. I recall stating it a few times a bit ago.

And, is there a problem with my avatar? Do you not like Charlie Chaplin and his movie The Great Dictator?

I actually thought this was the case since the beginning, but I dont think the CM increased his genjutsu x10. Even if it was the Cursed Seal of Heaven. The CM elevated Sasuke's sharingan to the point he close the gap between Itachi's genjutsu and his own. Saying Itachi=x10 Sasuke doesnt sound right.

Didn't Orochimaru and Obito both say that Sasuke was more talented that Itachi? I think Sasuke broke the genjutsu through his own talent not because Itachi was pulling his punches. Itachi hadn't pulled punches before with Tsukiyomi before, why would he start now? Sauke pressed Itachi to use all 3 of his MS techniques. If Itachi didn't have the MS, he would've fallen to Sasuke much sooner than he did.

Hm, well, I must have not come across those threads. Besides, there was 1 time where I was banned for a month or 2 and gave up on Narutobase altogether for more months via laziness, so I may very well have missed your posts about this.


I don't have that much of a problem with it, I just found it strange since most use what they think is awesome as their avatar and sig, and then you post Hitler and Nazis...... That and I was also being humorous. I actually have a lot of German in me. That and I also have Italian in me and a bit of Jewish.

Well, it would make sense since it's been stated that Sasuke's genjutsu is weak even with MS.

But his talent is not in genjutsu.

Itachi used Tsukuyomi to bring Sasuke on his limits, but Itachi had underestimated his brother.
