Exactly, he's like a twisted action hero, he'll do what he thinks is right, and no one will stand in his way. Also, you bring up the point that he was a child soldier. Most adults end up messed up do to war, imagine the affect on a 13 year old boy. Another good example I can think of would be Zuko, who ended up badly messed up because of abuse from his father at 13. Or even better, real child soldiers (I've read the memoir of one, it's not pretty). Basically, everything you said as to his motivations are correct, he basically was a hero that snapped because he refused to believe he couldn't save everybody. He's like Anakin, except, unlike Anakin, he didn't really have role models like Obi-Wan to keep him on the right track (he had Minato, but he turned because Minato wasn't around, just like Anakin with a Obi-Wan).

That was my point on bringing up the fact that he was a child when all this went down.

If a fully grown adult can give up on life after a few tours to a war zone, you think a kids gonna be all smiles for miles after experiencing that and more while going through puberty... Hell no

Like seriously xD most of the folks on this site have given up on life after some hurtful comment.

Honestly, I'm pretty sure it was always intent des that Madara was behind it all, I always thought everything worked out too convenient for him, considering this as well. Not to mention, he was smirking when Obito returned...yeah, he was behind it.

maybe we'll find out how? madara and yagura are right there now... i need to know how or it will bother me for all my life lol.

FINE, I'LL START! I think the most interesting part of his character was the little hallucination he had while talking to Naruto, THERE!

I liked that scene a lot as it visually showed Obito's regret he made in life. Even said fighting Naruto made him realize he ****ed up and shouldn't have listened to Madara brainwashing and left to the village. As Tobi he was cold and heartless person as we seen when he broke Torune I believe neck with ease. He didn't even care about his own name. Yes, Rin died, but that like his will dying basically. She was the only person who he felt actually cared about him and supported his dream of becoming hokage which was everything to him. With Madara brainwashing and Rin death as the catalyst to him seeing the world in the perspective Madara wanted him to see it in, he threw away all his emotions in order to carry out the moons eye plan and so he can in a world where everything went his way and also wanted to fix the shinobi system.

In this war, he talked a lot about how humans and the shinobi system are corrupt etc. The thing I hate most about Obito is that what led him to believe this was because of the loss of a single person. To me, it was not a strong enough reason to think that this world is corrupt because it was so simple. Everything else that was believed to have caused Obito's ambition is canonically confirmed a brainwash.

It wasn't the specific death of this person, it was the meaning of the death. Rin was an innocent girl, a child, sacrificed for a war she didn't know the beginning or end of, in a plot to kill even more people. It was the realization that innocent children like Rin die awfully, for no reason, and that despite how badly he wanted to be a hero, he couldn't save everyone, that was what made him snap. It was the realization that his ideals of kindness and heroism weren't what the world ran on that made him give up. Above all, he himself was a child, a child that grew up without parents, that grew up in a war without parents. As I said with the Zuko example, or even the example about adults, that kind of stuff at such a young age could seriously mess a person up, now give them the idea that they have the power to stop all these awful things they've experienced from happening to other people, and that in doing so they could erase their pain and everyone else's, in Obito's mind state at the time, that he joined Madara, isn't too surprising.

Just remember that Obito truly believed in both his ideals and the Will of Fire. He gave Kakashi his eye in order to protect his ideals, and to protect Rin. So when Obito saw Kakashi kill Rin, it was also Kakashi going against both the promise to Obito and the Will of Fire. That's why Obito accepted Madara's proposition; if the Will of Fire didn't mean shit, than maybe the IT might be worth something.

Notice how he doesn't try to use any kill moves on Minato. In the entire fight, he was only using Kamui to get Minato out of the way, because Obito was still struggling with his new warped world view and couldn't bring himself to kill his former teammates.

I'm surprised at people that just spam rin, sociopathic psychitc etc.

If there's something, its that he is really deprived of genuine love and affection since he's born, considering that he's an orphan.

Also, consider fact that the child was exposed to war, suffering and all.

As for Rin, I think there's somethin more to this:
"

For rin, this is where he felt what its like when someone cares for you, loves you not the romantic one or sexual one, but as a mother figure (YES),

I think obito's feelings for Rin can be justified. As someone who didn't have a mother since birth, He saw her unconsciously as a mother figure/surrogate this could also explain his obsession to her. Since she was the first )implied in the manga) to show such kind of affection and care to him something he was deprived at when he was very young.

This would explain how devastating was the effect to him.

Now add up what darth uchiha have said and just imagine how this would screw up his insanity

Do not underestimate the effects of these. Sure of you're a full grown adult, You would be able to act more wise, but To his case, he was like this from the start.

Hope this helps! :D
