The prophecy ruined Naruto's character, who agrees?

It's good that we are going to get an insight into the Sage of the six paths, his struggles and victory to ensure peace in the Shinobi world, but the whole 'prophecy' thing has ruined Naruto's character for me.

I used to look up to Naruto, he had no background whatsoever and still fought for what he thought was right. But no we're finding out all this information about him:
-Son of the Fourth Hokage
-A member of the renowned Uzumaki Clan
-Child of the prophecy
-And now he's like the Second sage?

He didn't exactly come from nothing. I would prefer if he was in Lee's situation, he fought for everything he has harboured so far, which is why he is currently the 2nd strongest in the Konoha 11 (excluding Sasuke). Anyone else agree that the prophecy and all this other information has ruined Naruto's character?

naruto stopped being cool after time skip, but was he confirmed the prophecy child? I don't think so. As far as we know, it's still miinato or could truly be naruto, or it could be some other random person. kishi is known for trolling.

I don't think this prophecy has ruined Naruto, he's still worked for everything he has right now. I did like how he was nothing in part 1 but a main character can't stay a scrub forever.

but i dont agree really..if anything it made his character more important. he has a purpose. when most ninjas dont really. plus all the friends he made through his life since he was a young ninja seems fitting of the prophecy.

Ruined? No, he's still the same character who had no ties, bonds, or wasn't even acknowledged amongst the village. He's still the same person who's fought past his struggles to become the hero he is now. In a sense, the prophecy is simply that even though Naruto has had so many struggles, he will still achieve great things.

Though I'll agree that it kinda downplayed him, the prophecy was unnecessary and can really be taken the wrong way.

The prophecy child is clearly Naruto. It had to be one of Jiraiya's students. Naruto is Jiraiya's only living student.

Yes Rock Lee is awesome and a true underdog; it is awesome how far he got even though he has 0-0,5 feats in part 2:yayy:
