As we have seen throughout the series, villains in the shinobi world all have sad backstories that have put them on their path to evil:
-Nagato: Seeing his parents killed by leaf Ninja, Witnessing War with his very eyes and losing Yahiko and Chibi
-Obito: Saved his best friends by sacrificing himself only to see Kakashi killing Rin because she was made the jinchuuriki of the Sanbi, showing how calculating and sinister the villages really are
-Madara: Being betrayed by his clan, losing his brothers, losing Izuna
-Orochimaru: Losing his parents.

Do you think that the way Kishi has portrayed these villains are childish? That anything can be solved by talking and peace? Or do you think it's mature as we see just how cruel the world can be and that there is no set image of good or evil. In my opinion it's the latter but what are everybody else's?

I think Nagato's idealism had the most mature approach, Obito's was quite weak in my opinion and I'm intrigued to learn about Orochimaru's true past.

It's mature. I don't buy this "evil just to be evil" BS we see in other shonens (especially one piece).

It's unrealistic and very immature for an author to make his villains do heinous acts consistently with no real motivation. But Kishi should have brought it down a little bit. I just have an issue with his villains changing their evil ways at the end. That's where it gets bad. Nagato I can forgive because he had a connection with Naruto (jiraiya being their sensei). But Orochimaru and company... No.

Well Obito's is quite strong IMO. He believes that the ninja system is messed up which is true as the mist kidnapped a 14 year old girl and made her a jinchuuriki just to get back at a village.

none of the back stories are 'bad' as people like to call, all of them explain why villians are the way they are right now

I would keep a close eye on Orochimaru if I was you, I think he's far from being on the 'good' side.

Option three sounds good, some of the decisions the villains make would be things that I would do as well, I can understand where there coming from, but kishi really needs to tone down the backstories, kabuto's was especially bad imo...

well I like how Kishi makes them have a back story as to why they're evil .. because it doesn't make sense if you're evil for no reason .. but Obito's back story was kinda meh ...

They're not evil. Evil is a point of view you could say the hidden villages are more evil than the obito and madara really only hurt those who attack them.

It's immature to even think one team is good or bad just because that's the one you're familiar

I think Kishi rushed it because he was losing ratings. But it does explain why he turned evil

Nagato had the most realistic and most mature portrayal. His reactions (if taken into context) are quite realistic. His story brought a sense of grief but made sense to why he did at he did. Obito had a justifiable one as did Ororchimaru and Madara. All the villains are realistic in a sense.

Lame villains overall

Obito- from the masked man to a whiny little crybaby
Madara- completely gay for Hashirama, threw away what he planned in the last couple of years like it's all game for him, I thought that was "his real goal" yet he become another looser...
Orochimaru- I don't event... from villain to a follower of a kid with sharringan, so much for the "villain", "sannin", "phenomenon" etc
Kabuto- the biggest loser of all, had everything(not going to mention his feats which were immense) under his control and lost to a genjutsu, so much for his "immunity and all"

Obito's motives don't make him a crybaby, Madara will show his power eventually, Oro isn't officially good yet and Kabuto well I agree on that.

very mature.
no one is born evil, the situations make them.the only thing that doesn't work in real world is tnj, which i think kishi is wanting to change.he did said that he hate war and wanted people to learn peace.well u can say that he is jiraya of real life.that's what i really like about this series.
though i think kishi will make an exception with obito.
also obito's reasons r way bigger as shown in latest chaps. and also the fact that he is uchiha as stated by tobirama.

Not exactly childish, some are more real then others (PEIN). But they are all rather mature, when you look at the big three. Obito, Orochimaru, Pein.

There are more childish villains though. Madara, Deidara was pretty funny, Hidan and Kakuzu made me laugh with their antics.

with all the back story & stuff the villians either sound like sour losers or cry babies

Stories give an elaborate background to a psychopath, but there isn't always one for real-life psychopaths. So it isn't unrealistic for a story to have one of these types. On a side note, you just put down one of the greatest villains in comics history.

personally I much prefer villians who have some reason to be villian and a personality, than just guys who are evil because they are. it makes for a good character. the backstory isn't essential, but some sort of goal or vision is. in other manga that's the thing that's missing the most- villians with some sort of personality or aspiration as fleshed out as the main characters are very rare.

personally I think obito's backstory was horrible. Tobi had such a great character, him being just a replicant of uchiha madara is a waste. he had a unique personality- an excellent manipulator, great knowledge, a way with words and an aura of mystery. his backstory should have been kishi's crowning glory, tobi being either izuna or the elder son or at the very least kagami would have made much more of an impact. what we know of obito before and the epic tobi after just don't match, and neither does obito's real personality after his mask got broken. he's a disjointed character now :/
