Why did madara want to cast IT himself, rather than letting Obito do it? It's the same result. He was going to stop Obito and heroically save the world from being placed under an illusion, so that he could... DO EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE GUY HE JUST STOPPED! Does Madara get his ideas only when really really Drunk?

That is what i though, untill he actually cast IT and it became obvious that he actually belived all the crap he was spouting, rather than useing as an excuse to get super powerful.

True lol, I mean I'm pretty sure Juubito would have gotten rid of him as well after MT was inacted, so Madara for his own survival as well had to swap places with Obito.

Simple both wanted it for different reasons

Obito wanted so everybody in the world could live peacefully and so he can see Rin again

Madara wanted so he could recollect Chakra from everybody on the planet so then nobody would be able to challenge him and there would be no more chakra.
