My guess is that mysterious shinigami is in fact a royal guard member, possibly Hikufune

actually it could be Aizen, Ukitake, Yamamoto or most likely rukia
although bleach is know for leading you in the wrong direction then completely mind f***ing you

most likely rukia though could set it up for a epic reunion
