We are the most intelligent species on Earth, but sometimes we forget that we are part of a species that did unspeakable, horrible acts in the past. So, for us not forget these atrocities, here's a quick history lesson:

~~

-Holocaust (1941-1945): 6 million jews, including 1 million children, murdered in extermination camps, in medical experiments and by death squads in the streets of Poland and Germany. These victims who had done nothing, did not pose any real threat to Germans were gassed, burned alive in ovens and slaughtered, just for the sake of an ideology.

-Atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki (1945): 120,000- 246,000 Japanese people, men, women and children were burned alive and killed in their homes.

-Rwandan genocide (1994): Nearly a million Rwandan citizens were butchered in less than 100 days. Every Tutsi infant and every children that the Hutu rebels could find were murdered. Even pregnant women were sliced open and their unborn children killed with butchered. Former President Clinton said it was the worst decision of his career not to help. This is the dark stain in the UN's history, because they choose not to react, they looked the other way.

-Nanking massacre (1937-1938): Nearly 300,000 Chinese were murdered by the Japanese in a massacre which took six weeks in the former capital of the Republic of China. Japanese officers had a massacre contest of who would first kill 100 people. 20,000 women were raped and then sexually mutilated before they were killed. Young children were also involved in these atrocities, which occured daily during those six weeks.

~~

Have there ever been more horrible events caused by humans than these?

I am sure there are lot of it, they are not just documented.
It is horrible that there billions live in this world brainwashed to stupid ideologies.

It was a wise move tbh.

While Nazis were prosecuted and hunted Japan was spared. Few were executed by the soviets but many of the Japanese working in bio warfare stuff who committed atrocities were hired by Americans. They brushed off allegation as communist propaganda and covered it.

I don't really get the point of this. All these are examples of what humans did to other humans and the only ones who can even consider these events to be terrible or not, are humans. If you look into the animal kingdom, there are an infinite amount of examples of things we would consider unspeakable, but wouldn't think about it much as animals don't know any better. Making a list of human atrocities is really futile as you can simply describe it as "the world history of mankind". So in retrospect we still act like animals, only we start thinking about.

History is important, because we learn from it. I think now and again it's only healthy to remind people that not so long ago people acted like savages. As a reminder of our weaknesses. I can bet that most people in here weren't even aware that there was such an event as Nanking massacre or Rwandan genocide. The point is also to raise up discussions as to what makes people do such things.

We act nothing like animals. Whatever 'unspeakable' things happen in the animal kingdom they do not happen because one side has malicious intents towards another. Animals hunt and kill each other, but they do so because their instincts tells them to do so, for survival.

History is not futile. It is important that we understand and learn from it.

btw OP, if we are talking about the most terrible event in history then there are more terrible candidates. The Khmer Rogue's eradication of almost 20% of 'their' country's population. The death of 60% of the Paraguayan population during the Paraguayan War. The Cultural Revolution and the following Great Leap Forward in China that directly lead to the death of millions. The Armenian Genocide during World War 1. The purges in the Soviet Union under Stalin.

The sad thing is, your statement is not true.
Humans don't learn from their past. Our species commits the same crimes as in the stone age. Murder, rape, betrayal etc. In fact, humans still behave like cavemen if you look at the core. Only the surroundings change over time.

In the animal Kingdom thousands of different species coexist. And due to the Food Chain many of them require a specific pattern of killing. Or being killed. For the Benefit and Survival of their own species.

I don't think think I've seen a group of animals slaughter millions of another in a short span for no reason.

Most of the time they kill for a purpose and the benefit of multiple species too.

The Humans that took part in executing those events are far worse than Animals.

Mass Killing over ideals, or Trivial reasons such as the words of a politician, is inexcusable.

Zong massacre

The Zong massacre was the mass murder of 133 enslaved Africans by the crew of the slave ship Zong in the days following 29 November 1781. The ship was owned by the Gregson slave-trading syndicate, based in Liverpool, which participated in the Atlantic slave trade. As was common business practice, they had taken out insurance on the lives of the slaves as cargo. When the ship ran low on potable water following navigational mistakes, the crew threw slaves overboard into the sea to drown, partly in order to ensure the survival of the rest of the ship's inhabitants, and in part to cash in on the insurance on the slaves, thus not losing money on the slaves which would have died from the lack of drinking water.
