regaurdless he gave more than enough proof that itachi is superior in intelligence and i agree. Shikamaru uses his shadow jutsus, runs out of chakra, gets his ass saved or hides, thinks of a plan, and then prays he has enough chakra left to win the battle... put shikamaru in a 1v1 with itachi.... itachi would win low difficulty.

3) Minato OKAY before you eat me alive, minato developed a bijuu bomb, he manipulated time and space with a formula, he analyzed tobi's abilities and formulated an identity guess in just moments, He may be just as good as a strategist as shikamaru but his knowledge and analyzing seems faster. Shikamaru can come up with more in depth strategies but minato comes up with things faster from what we have seen. Also the creation of his jutsu's are really hyped and you rarely see anything like it

8)Jiraiya figuring out pain/gaara... His performance in this war has been unbelievable.
9) Kakashi
10) Sasuke, dont troll, from what we have seen his strategic victories have been great. Although sharingan carries alot of knowledge in its abilities

1) Minato: why??? well, only because he MADE Rasengan and mastered sealing jutsus and defeated Tobi in seconds....and did he predict something????? like Tobi trying to take over the world so he sealed the nine tails into naruto to defeat him and by the looks of it it is going as he predicted.....and that is why i rate him higher than Itachi...because what ever itachi planned it has back fired.....

he only planned his death, the other two were out of his control completely. Idk why ppl keep thinking he planned that, which in fact he didn't.

Also, people seem to correlate intelligence and ability(jutsu) which shouldnt be the case. In most incident one who knows/has techniques at disopsal which would be perfect for a given situation, so they're able to logically put 2 and 2 together. Now, being able to accomplish that is something different.

I am 100% with this guy, Itachi planned his death but he was surprised when naruto had that one crow thing pop out and stop the control(sorry crappy memory). I do not think that Shikamaru is the smartes and they have different ways of using there intelligence. expernce is also makes a big difference Itachi has way more then Shikamaru.

like a lot of people say just cause you have more power doesn't make you smarter. Some times having more power just makes you think you are better but it just gets you in trouble and killed.

Hiruzen Sarutobi (I think I forgot to tell who I thought was the smartes) ONE he is a man of peace... two he trained half of the people or was the trainer of half the people that trained who you talk about and third he lived to be an old man and didnt die unlike a few people we keep talking about. there is more but I am to lazy to put it down.
