So I was watching it and was I the only one who was reminded of the Nardo vs Neji fight at the exams? ..... it had some of the same elements but My hero knew how to do a proper finish lol ....

No, you were not. People actually commented on those similarities a lot.

Without even taking into account how the themes introduced in that fight would later become very redundant, I still think MHA did a slightly better job at it than Naruto in this aspect. Just slightly.

Well...Neji was being a jerk and required that beating. Given what they both went through and reacted to it, Todoroki was far more relatable, even if he was a bit messed up in his own way. Like, look how Neji's match with Hinata went in comparison to Todoroki's match with Sero. Granted, the former is far more personal, but the fact that Neji nearly killed his cousin while Todoroki had enough sense to apologize to Sero for going overboard does say a lot.
