Yeah, totally. <3 Stupid Sasuke, why does he have to be there? xD Just kidding haha.
Saddest moment for any teen in the series. Huge burden. But he gets my respect for maintaining his clan's honor and saving Konoha from civil war, & his clan was about to be eliminated anyway whether he did a thing or not because they wanted a coup instead of negotiations. That all sucks, though. All of that pain that Itachi had to deal with. Even Fugaku of all people acknowledges that Itachi's life is going to be hell from that moment on. This is one of the few moments that I actually feel some respect for his parents (though, still not much for obvious reasons-the idea of the coup, Fugaku gave up on his elder son entirely when he wasn't all for the clan, & Mikoto agreed to everything her husband did. hehe xD ) 
Maybe if they had cared for their son a little more and were more reasonable with Hiruzen, things like this wouldn't happen.
It wouldn't hurt to think outside of the limited clan perspective/Uchiha pride and realize that their actions would be affecting a wider pool of people (an entire village) as well. U_U
