The chakra absorbed from the amenuhoko staff acted as a chakra injection, stopping your genjutsu. Like how the 8-tails used his bijuu to inject chakra into him, freeing him from Sasuke's genjutsu.

Well, it's obviously not overpowered for at least two reasons.
1. It was accepted, along with all of its jutsus.
2. Apparently, it's no stronger than you are normally.
