Sakura is nothing but wasted potential. She is a selfish character with no development and forced in chapters of random power-ups to attempt to make her relevant. She has repeated the same shtick since the Forest of Death, depends ENTIRELY on other primary male characters and backstabs her friends.

But then there's her portrayal in 'The Last'. Taking a backseat somewhat, she finally comes across as a pleasant and capable support ninja who can stand on her own two feet. Rather than being jealous of them, Sakura is a close friend of Hinata's to the hatred of every immature 'shipping wars' fan. You can feel the maturity in her speeches to Hinata and Naruto- even going into how he might not understand romantic love from his upbringing. I LOVE the part where she explains Naruto's need to compete over her to beat Sasuke. You can tell she's come far.

On top of this she basically takes on the Ootsutsuki castle by herself and demolishes it's puppet army. But most notably she almost kills herself to restore Naruto to full health, even though her chakra is depleted. Selfless and noble, without mentioning Sasuke.

This should've been the selfless, relatable female lead we had for the entire series. You can actually see where loveable and good kid Sarada gets it from, coming from two unstable parents. Her portrayal in this movie is just likeable, the one thing Sakura universally never really was.

She's a character I always have wanted to root for, but got let down every single time...but really, she could've potentially been among my favs.

This makes no sense because Sakura has literally always been this selfless, you just see it know because sasusaku is canon and you can say she is chasing sasuke.

Sakura has protected and put her life on the line for her team mates from the beginning. SakuIno >>>>>>>> SakuHina though, Sakura is just sweet and loves to help others

Can't agree personally. Always wanted to support her but was given nothing to work with by Kishimoto.

But coming from someone who ships SakuIno, gotta agree there. It was just nice for Hinata and Sakura to be mature girly friends. Narutoverse doesn't have enough positive femininity in it.

It's okay to like both female leads in that film but next time you watch it, go into it with an open mind. She redeems herself.
I think you misunderstood me. I've hated sakura since pt1 ever since she was introduced, she really struck a nerve when she called my boy out for being an orphan. Amongst numerous other things, I really dislike her character. :sigar:

Your comment just sparked a theory in my mind. We all know Sakura was basically cupid in teh movie, teh bridge that brought Naruto and Hinata together. But...Were her intentions noble? Maybe it was Inner Sakura who leaked out during teh movie and brought them together, for teh more sinister motive of leading them into a loveless marriage.

Using her ability to sense emotions, inner Sakura knew that Naruto didn't reciprocate teh love Hinata had always felt for him.

we know Inner Sakura is capable of fooling everybody into thinking she's good intentioned as shown by this scan

Kishimoto never wanted her to be likeable, the character was created to be annoying and so she is and will forever be probably.
SP changed her recently not only in term of personality but also appearance, she's less boyish and a bit more useful since the Last in the anime and movie (we don't see her much in the manga atm).

She got some fans:pkun:
And if the majority of people hated her...doesn't mean Kishi didn't want her to be likeable..I mean when y'all gonna start to discuss for real?! Same thing...all over again....EVERYDAY...

The beginning and end of Shippuden, gaiden and the last is where Sakura's character shines the most, I've always adored her character and Kishimoto always fails to show the side of Sakura because he basically wanted a character to get hated.

Yeah, she's ugly for sure. What i'm saying is that none of that is in this movie. Only her almost sacrificing herself to keep Naruto alive without questions and supporting everybody with the right, mature advice. Far cry from the girl who knocked her friends out in the Land of Iron.
