Sakura is nothing but wasted potential. She is a selfish character with no development and forced in chapters of random power-ups to attempt to make her relevant. She has repeated the same shtick since the Forest of Death, depends ENTIRELY on other primary male characters and backstabs her friends.
But then there's her portrayal in 'The Last'. Taking a backseat somewhat, she finally comes across as a pleasant and capable support ninja who can stand on her own two feet. Rather than being jealous of them, Sakura is a close friend of Hinata's to the hatred of every immature 'shipping wars' fan. You can feel the maturity in her speeches to Hinata and Naruto- even going into how he might not understand romantic love from his upbringing. I LOVE the part where she explains Naruto's need to compete over her to beat Sasuke. You can tell she's come far.
On top of this she basically takes on the Ootsutsuki castle by herself and demolishes it's puppet army. But most notably she almost kills herself to restore Naruto to full health, even though her chakra is depleted. Selfless and noble, without mentioning Sasuke.
This should've been the selfless, relatable female lead we had for the entire series. You can actually see where loveable and good kid Sarada gets it from, coming from two unstable parents. Her portrayal in this movie is just likeable, the one thing Sakura universally never really was.
She's a character I always have wanted to root for, but got let down every single time...but really, she could've potentially been among my favs.
