my thoughts?
well, i believe Madara has really been using Pain, i believe that he told Pain that if he gathered all of the beasts and put them into the statue that it would be able to do what Pain told Jiraiya...maybe the statue has something to do with the real secret of the sharingan, Itachi did say that Madara was a shell of himself, maybe Madara is planning on using the statue to bring back his former glory somehow.
