Ah, what a shame, I thought I'd be able to use it in my match with Moofy, he's using them against me and I wanted to have a kenjutsu spar with him, but I need those swords lol.

Got it!

(Suiton: Mizu no Tatsumaki) - Water Release: Tornado of Water
Rank: A
Type: Attack/Defence/Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra cost: 30
Damage Points: 60
Description: After performing the Ram → Horse → Bird the user is able to create a technique that utilizes water to create a spinning water vortex around the user. The water vortex acts both as a barrier and an attack mechanism. The power of the vortex is enough to knock an opponent unconscious.
Note: Requires a nearby water source

Pretty simple, you make water rise and spin around you, creating a vortex. Can we rise this wall anywhere from short range to mid range?

( Suiton: Arekuruu Hayase ) - Water Release: Raging Rapids
Rank: A
Type: Offensive
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra cost: 30
Damage points: 60
Description: Using their skills with Water Release, the user generates a powerful vortex of water around their enemy with a swing of their arm that sends them flying upwards and then dispels it with another hand gesture. (Requires a water source).
Note: Tobirama and Mei terumi can perform this without a water source.

The why I understand it, you swing your arm and water beneath your opponent rises upwards and makes them fly into the air. With another gesture it stops again.

The techniques were becoming less and less, and it seemed like Panthalassa was quite excited to finish off. He really wanted to master water. He would in no time, and Dean merely smiles, remembering how they started not so long ago.

"Good, Tornado of water, a defensive and offensive type of technique, which has quite a few uses. One forms three hand seals and manipulates a water source, to create a spinning vortex of water around the user. This spinning vortex can hit back the opponent and can be used to defend against CQC and Fire. However, the vortex would hinder ones sight. As for your question, yes.

After that, Raging Rapids. Just as you understand it, a hand gesture would send the opponent airborne, and another would stop said technique. Very simple, but nice if you have a Tobirama bio, since he can do all water techniques without hand seals."

They were done with the 3rd method, and now it was time for the 4th one. They had already covered a few techniques in the 4th method, like the mist based ones, so this was going to be fast, Dean thought.

"Alright, the next method is called, Alternative Release. We already covered some of these, prematurely z,z So what do you thin they are? And their strengths and weaknesses?"

Ah, that's what Alternative Release means... it does make sense. So it's about water techniques that don't really fit the normal idea we have about water, with it being a liquid and transparent. In that sense, alternative release encompasses techniques that give water syrup-like proprieties, which we have already talked about, and are essentially a way to make water much more opaque and adhesive. Oil-like proprieties, which are a way to make water more opaque and flammable. I'm not sure how this type of property fares against water's natural strength which is fire, doesn't seem much compatible, unless it just overtakes fire and turns it against you, following the same weaknesses and strengths. I guess that does make sense.
And also the chakra-draining properties, which are very interesting indeed, and encompass ways to find your opponent's chakra, weaken your opponent's chakra or steal your opponent's chakra. The previous Mizukage created a technique that makes a mist that can assume the properties of any technique used within it, and I think this is a perfect example of alternative properties that the mist can mimic.

I'm assuming you're going to ask me to compile the techniques, so allow me to do just that! Though I don't know if I know the difference between this method and the last one. I'm just going to write the techniques that I think meet the method and I haven't been taught yet. We've done Chakra-Sensing rain, and Starch Syrup Field and all the Chakra Draining and Mist ones.

(Suiton: Mizu Kawarimi) - Water Style: Water Replacement
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra cost: 15
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user can freely transform his body into liquid. This form allows him to avoid taking direct damage from many physical attacks but can not attack while in this form.

This technique allows us to turn into water. I don't know how this technique differs from the Hydrification technique from the Hozuki. Can I move when I'm using this technique? Can someone use the water that is my body and manipualte me into a water jutsu? What happens to me then? Can I drop myself into another water source and then reappear somewhere else, or is there a specific volume of water that is my body, and I'd still have to make that specific body of water travel where I want it to, and it doesn't mix with normal water?

(Suiton: Kokuun) - Water Style: Black Clouds
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra cost: 15
Damage Points: N/A
Description:After performing the Ram → Snake → Tiger hand seals the user creates a flammable black mist that forms a small cloud. The user can then move the cloud above their target and disperse it, covering the target in flammable oil.

This jutsu required 3 handseals and then creates a black mist that forms a cloud. This cloud showers the target with flammable oil which can then be set aflame. The oil can keep on burning for quite a while.

(Suiton: Mizugakure no jutsu) - Water Release Hidden Amongst Water Technique
Rank: B
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra cost: 20
Damage points: N/A
Description: The user will manipulate their chakra and then blend in with a water source to be undetected by the enemy for a short period of time. However Sensory Ninja and Doujutsu users can find the enemy easily within the water source.

You use your chakra to blend with water. This apparently is only visual in outcome, since chakra sensors and doujutsu users aren't fooled by this. Can I travel while in this jutsu?

Looking back at the meekly filled scroll, Panthalassa decided to just go ahead and analyse the techniques. They were only three after-all. [I've written what he says about them inside the scroll itself, but just assume he's saying it afterwards lol]

Panthalassa quickly covers what Alternative Release is about, and even continues onward to collect the scrolls of the following techniques. They weren't many, so he analyses them. Dean listens as he talks, he always had questions, didn't he? Dean smiles as he answers.

"Great job, now for the first technique, Water Replacement. Using your Water chakra, you will form your body into water itself, in order to avoid physical damage, but in this form you can't attack nor move. You are basically at the opponent's mercy at this point, so only use it if its the right situation. Yes, the opponent can manipulate you in this form (Scorps did it against Edward) and no, you can't move in this form, so you can't move in a water source.

After that, Black Clouds. As you say, very simple, with three hand seals you create a flammable black mist, which forms into a small cloud. This cloud is then moved towards the opponent, and showers him with flammable oil, allowing you to set him on fire or use a Fire technique afterwards. A very unorthodox Water technique.

Hidden Amongst Water Technique, to hide your presence from the opponent for a short while using your Water chakra. It states short range, so it can only be done if you and the opponent are fairly close to each other, and probably on a water source, since you would have to be fully submerged. Yes, you can move."

Panthalassa listened to everything his sensei had to say. When he finished, Pantha tried to look into the scrolls for the next step, but couldn't find anything.

I don't know what the last method is supposed to be, but there aren't any more water techniques for me to learn. I've been taught anything besides character-bound techniques. If I were to guess, this last method is exactly that, techniques that are specific to a character. Is training over? Have I completed water?

Panthalassa gives out a wide expectant grin

Dean had bad news for his student, there was indeed one more step left. Method number 5.

"Unfortunately, there is one more. Its called Specifics, techniques which don't really fit in with the previous methods. Anyway, I'll just list them, and you analyse the ones we did not cover yet (since you were supposed to keep tabs fam U_U)."

Dean then throws the scroll towards Panthalassa.

(Suiton: Suiben) - Water Release: Water whip
Rank: C
Type: Offensive, supplementary
Range: Short - Mid
Chakra cost: 15
Damage points: 30
Description: After the user performs a series of 3 hand seals Rat → Dog → Ox, the user creates a whip of water that can be used to strike the opponent with a lashing action or wrap around the target to bind them. This technique can also have lightning techniques channeled through when they have bound their victim with the water whip

(Suiton: Ukojizai no Jutsu) - Water Style: Rain Tiger at Will Technique
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Long
Chakra cost: 15
Damage Points: N/A
Description: A perception ninjutsu, allowing one to freely manipulate rain infused with the user's own chakra after waving the Bird → Rat → Ox → Monkey → Rat → Snake hand seals. The rain falls from rain clouds, formed with the users own chakra. During this technique, the falling raindrops are closely linked to the users senses. When the rain is obstructed by a chakra belonging to someone the existence of the target can be detected. The rain will keep on falling until the user uses the seal to cancel it.

(Suiton: Uramiame no Jutsu) - Water Release: Grudge Rain Technique
Rank: B-Rank
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Long
Chakra cost: 20 (-50 per turn while trapped in the vortex of waves)
Damage points: N/A
Description: The user will first perform the Dog hand seal and release his chakra into the atmosphere which will then create an accumulation of large storm clouds in the sky, which in turn produces rain. The large amount of rain falling all around can then be turned into a large wave of water which sweeps the enemy off their feet while wrapping around him and binding him in the flow of water around him. While the targets are trapped in the water, their chakra will slowly be drained away. The water vortex can be sustained and controlled for up to two turns as long as the user keeps the dog hand seal made.

(Suiton: Gufuu Suika) - Water Style: Typhoon Water Vortex
Rank: A
Type: Attack/Defence
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra cost: 30
Damage Points: 60
Description:The user will create a ‘Wind Style: Rasengan’ in one hand, and ‘Water Style: Destruction Torrent’ in the other. By combining them, he will create a tornado of water that can be used to attack or defend. This jutsu can also be used to drown out wind and fire combos
Note: No water source required.
Note: Can only be used with either a clone or an ally

We did most of those techniques already, though. Water Grudge, Hidden in Water, Rain Tiger at Will.

I thought I had done this technique, but that was another whip technique. This one is basically the same, except it allows us to perform other techniques simultaneously, namely lightning techniques, which I don't have. That is true, I can use other techniques at the same time?

I didn't mention this technique because I can't use it, since I don't have wind. It's basically the same as other vortex techniques, like the one used to create this, except it adds wind to the spin. I have a question, though, how does it interact in the elemental weaknesses and strengths? Water is strong to Fire and weak to Earth, Wind is strong to Lightning and weak to Fire. So water + wind would be neutral to Fire, weak to Earth and strong to lightning?

Dean listens to his student, as the last amount of Water techniques were analysed. He clears his throat as he gets ready to add a bit more to what his student had already said.

"The first technique, Water Whip, after three hand seals, one creates a water whip through shape manipulation. A simple technique, where the whip can then be used to lash at opponents, or channel Lightning into it for a more shocking effect. It can only be used with one specific Lightning technique, after using the whip. This does not mean you can use techniques simultaneously.

Here is the technique for reference:

Rank: C
Type: Offense
Range: Short (Short-Long depending on the water technique)
Chakra Cost: 15
Damage Points: 30 (+10 to a water technique when used in conjunction)
Description: This jutsu allows the user to create a wave of electricity from the user's hands. This jutsu can vary in power from a small surge to shock an opponent to a powerful stream of lightning capable of ripping through solid rock. It is ideal to use in conjunction with a water jutsu.

I believe the Wind is only added for the rotatory action, which creates a more powerful vortex. However, I will find out, and let you know. Anyway, is that it?"

I believe that is it...

Panthalassa was really happy that he had mastered water. It was a dream. But he felt quite melancholic no.

This was such a long training... but I think I will miss it... I enjoyed it very much. I don't even know what I want to train next... do you have any suggestions?

"You have mastered Water then! And as for next, you could always try going for Rain, but it requires mastery of both Water and Wind. So, we could go for Wind if you'd like? Or perhaps Taijutsu?"

I still haven't decided if I want to explore another element or not... Even with all the water techniques and mist techniques, wind is heavily present, so that would probably be an obvious choice, but I don't know. I think Taijutsu would be good
