Donald Trump has finally won his much deserved title as President. And of course everyone is losing their shit about it and complaining on the internet. But I feel like the reason he won is because of the internet. If people didn't have his name in their mouths 24/7 he wouldn't be nearly as popular as he is now. You go on Trending page of YouTube and all you ever see is Donald Trump related videos and skits about whatever "crazy" thing he said last week. Imagine if Trump wasn't thrusted in our faces nearly everywhere we went on the internet? He would've probably lost way earlier in the race.

And this isn't the first time I've seen the internet influence politics in a negative way.

Remember Brexit? On Twitter a lot of people were against it. But also within the same day a trending hashtag popped up in favor of it! And they were doing it just because they wanted to rebel and be funny.

Nowadays you see people voting for Harambe instead of donald or Hillary...or the other possible candidates. They voted for a dead gorilla. The amount of shame I feel is pretty high right now.

And when you discuss politics with young people the only politics they seem to know is trump's wall and hillarys emails. If you're lucky they might mention Benghazi.
This is pretty much what I've heard from people about trump and hillary: emails, building a wall, benghazi, ww3, trump being a rapist/misogynist, and hillary being corrupt.
Overall I just think if it was 1990 then HIllary would've definitely won.

Does anyone else feel that the internet is just a toxic force for politics?

Maybe but these politicians cannot completely control it like they do with the the news channels.

I mean besides the internet what other Media outlets do we have for politics?, These news channels/papers that have their own hidden agendas/Bias and only show us what they wanted us to see?.

She most likely would've won back then.

The media pushed trump just as much as the internet did. All publicity is good publicity. And not using the internet to your advantage these days is just asking to lose. Since there's no greater force(bar religion) on the people than the internet.

Yeah blame the Internet >_> because it totally isn't the media's job to educate ppl instead of trying to chase after scandals. This whole thing totally wasn't because Hillary was that bad a candidate and her way as campaigning was so bad that she couldn't pull a clear victory from Donald Trump of all ppl.

I don't even follow these elections and somehow I am more informed then about 90% of the ppl I talk to about this election and I don't even vote.

The Media/Wallstreet was against Trump and in the tank for Hillary the whole time. Hell every one of them donated to her campaign. CNN (Timewaner) MNSBC (Comcast) and others.

You people are so blind and sheep. GOOGLE FACEBOOK TWITTER was all on Hillary side. Fofgodsakes she had a superpac helping her on social media platforms: Correct the Record.

As much I dislike Trump, he was American peoples F U to the established.

I get people are shaking there heads, but your not seeing the bigger picture. Trump is our Brexit.

Yes they are. And no things aren't sadly. Still at the very least I get to pull some high quality salt from this :pkun:

But the reason why people voted for him is probably nowhere near that fact, and that's what the majority are thinking. It's more like an indirect "**** you" to the establishment.

Yeah people care more about the dumb entertaining story of it then the actual issues trump winning made for a better story. And I'm more in the conspiratorial boat believing he won just to distract the masses and put us in a frenzy

Are you agreeing or disagreeing? I still think it's the internet's fault. Memes turn to reality and reality turns to what we see today
