I had the weirdest craving to write today =/. I think I'm even going to start on the 9th chapter today as well. Well here it is, enjoy ^^. As always, comments are appreiciated.
Riku awoke to a sudden knocking on the door. Rubbing both of his eyes, he stood up and walked towards the door. The room that he was in was fairly big, forcing him to maneuver around a few valuables. The Raikage had arranged for him to be able to stay in this room for a few days. Whoever was out there seemed to be more obnoxious then the Raikage was yesterday. And sure enough, when Riku opened the door, the person who was knocking, was the Raikage.
Raikage: To my office, we have much to talk about.
Riku stepped out, only to be halted by the Raikage’s thick hand.
Raikage: You’re going to the Raikage’s office in boxers... has Shinru taught you anything?
~
The Raikage’s request was much more important than Riku thought it would be. He didn’t come up there to simply talk about the welfare of the village, or the Raikage himself. He came, to talk about his destiny.
Raikage: So... what exactly do you think your destiny is?
Riku: Well, I’m not too sure actually. Never really thought about it. But, I think, that it’s just to stay alive, and when the time comes, do what I can to put an end to Akatsuki.
The Lightning Shadow gave a small snicker.
Raikage: I think you’ve gotten about 1/1000 of it right. According to Shinru that is.
Riku: Huh? Shinru talked to you about this.
Raikage: Of course, Shinru was about as close to me and the other Kage’s as he was to you. And I was one of the main ones that he talked to.
Riku: I see... so what exactly did he tell you?
Raikage: Well with reference from the pointless and idiotic questions you asked earlier, I think I may have to break this down into simple terms for you, almost like a question and answer session, am I correct?
Riku’s head hung and the Raikage took it as a yes.
Raikage: I think that I can safely assume that you are famous with the Legendary Sannin, Jiriya, right? Well, have you ever noticed that your master acts similar as how Jiriya was said to act.
Riku: My master’s a pervert!!!??? But he seemed like such an honorable guy!!!
The Raikage’s eyebrows narrowed as he lightly palmed himself in the face placing his elbow
on top of the desk cluttered with papers.
Raikage: No... I’m speaking of Jiriya’s ideals, of peace and how he believed the day would come when all would understand each other, and so on.
Riku: Oh.... yeah, I have noticed that.
Raikage: Well there’s a reason for that, Shinru and Jiriya used to work very close together at one time in the past. All of Jiriya’s ideals were engraved into Shinru as well. They were soon as close as brother’s, until Shinru left, for a great reason.
Riku: Why?
Raikage: He left, to find you.
Riku’s eyes widened.
Riku: But why? He made it seem like it was all a coincidence.
Raikage: You’re much more foolish than I thought if you actually believe that it was simply a coincidence that he was simply roaming through the woods and just “happened” to pass the cave that you were in, and he was just trying to be a good person in taking you as his student.
Riku: Ok so... why was he looking for me?
Raikage: Jiriya, long ago, wrote a book, “The Legend of the Gutsy Ninja,” if I remember correctly. Shinru was a character in it, and, later on, each of them were mentioned to have students. Shinru’s student was mentioned briefly, while Jiriya’s student played the main character’s role. But each of them were equally important, Shinru’s student wasn’t important to the story, but he was important to Shinru and Jiriya’s ideals.
Riku: So who was the student.
Raikage: Fool! The second student is obviously you!
Riku: Oh... right. Duh!
Raikage: Anyway. In the book, both of the students were what each of the masters
thought would bring peace. Both in different ways. But they were said to have to work together to do this. Riku was the voice of destruction and pride. While Naruto was the voice of reason and, in the future, knowledge. But, of course, there were more than just those two, they had many allies to back them up. Do you see where I’m going.
Riku: Not really...
Raikage: Jiriya is dead and Shinru is captured and probably also dead by now! You and Naruto Uzumaki are still alive! It is fully up to you two to fulfill what Jiriya and Shinru craved!
Riku: Oh... wait. You expect us to defeat an entire new group of Akatsuki alone?
The Raikage palmed his face once again.
Raikage: No, if you were properly listening I said that there would be many allies
along the way, but it is up to you and Naruto to lead the group. But who knows, it’s possible that even that won’t truly make peace. You must leave for the Village Hidden in Leaves in a few days. There, you will undoubtedly find Naruto Uzumaki. And once you find him... your journey, nay, your destiny, shall unfold.
Your Destiny
