Not my best fight scene... but enjoy. ^_^ Btw, I messed up on the last chapter, that was chapter 30, so this is 31.

Venom and Antidotes

Riku ducked low as thin snakes rushed out of Kabuto?s sleeve and towards him, fangs dripping with venom. Noticing that Kabuto stopped his lunge short in front of him and then went for a kick at him, Riku, from his crouched position, rolled over to the side. Kabuto spun on his heel to face Riku, who just barely noticed Manda coming at him from the side. Riku jumped back as Manda rushed in between the two fighters.

As soon as Manda was finished with his mad rush, however, Kabuto was nowhere in sight. Riku looked around frantically, but suddenly, Kabuto emerged from underground, bursting out and going diagonally upwards towards Riku, cocking his arm back and then pushing it forward to hit Riku right in the stomach as he went up.

Skipping across the ground like a stone, Riku could barely move. No, he couldn?t move at all for a moment. Just barely, he regained his balance at the last minute. Kabuto was running towards him again, though, and Manda came from behind him. Riku quickly jumped up as high as he could, while Manda, just as swiftly, extended his neck to stand at full length so that his head was above Riku, while Kabuto continued his sprint, running up Manda?s outstretched neck.

Riku figured it was about time to strike back. Making a quick handseal, Riku pushed his arm upward as a blast of wind shot out of his open palm, hitting Manda in his face that had cast a shadow over the young ninja. Riku was quickly pushed back to the ground by this, so that he would have gone right past Kabuto as he ran upwards, but not quickly enough. Kabuto, moving as fast as lightning, jumped off of Manda?s neck, twisting himself as he jumped outwards so that he was going horizontally like a torpedo in a way that would collide with Riku as he came down. Once again, Kabuto cocked his arm back as chakra began to build up around it, and jabbed Riku with his hand right in the stomach, sending him flying and lessening the speed of Kabuto?s jump, allowing him to fall gently.

As soon as Kabuto landed and Riku did the same, though his landing being much less pleasant, a torrent of thin snakes jumped out of Kabuto?s sleeve again and wrapped themselves around Riku, constricting him. Riku didn?t know how many more hits he could take. It had only been two hits so far, and yet he could barely move his fingers, despite only his very upper body being held by the snakes.

Riku managed to make one seal with one of his hands, and spewed out an immense amount of water towards Kabuto?s face, sending a giant water bullet to hit the snake-like ninja dead in the face, sending him tumbling backwards, but quickly regaining his balance, right in front of Manda, who finally recovered from the powerful blast of wind.

Riku allowed himself to catch his breath for a moment, the snakes having nearly crushed his lungs. He amazed himself by the fact that he was even able to get out the water bullet.

Kabuto began to get up, kneeling on one knee with the opposite hand on the ground, ?I think that?s just about enough,? he said, rising up fully.

Kabuto put his head up to the sky and opened his mouth. A sword began to extend out of Kabuto?s mouth, the handle pointing towards the sky and the tip of the blade was pointed towards Kabuto?s mouth. Riku nearly retched as he watched all of this happen, but held it as the sword tilted, angling itself towards Riku, and vigorously moved towards him. The blade started with a stab, which Riku dodged by spinning on his heel so that he stood sideways and it went past him, and then went into a flurry of swipes. Riku backed away to avoid the swipes, but was quickly hit on his side by a chakra-coated hand, an abrupt reminder that he was still fighting Kabuto and not the sword.

Riku flew across the grass like a pebble thrown across water, tumbling further because of the slope.

When he finally stopped, at the bottom of the hill, Riku lay there, twitching and hardly able to open his eyes to watch as Kabuto walked towards him. He ached at first, but suddenly, he couldn?t feel anything. Not his arms, not his legs, he couldn?t even feel Soul Eater in his grasp, though he clearly saw it, there was just... no feeling. He couldn?t move at all, it was as if all of the chakra from him had just... gone.

Kabuto continued to walk towards Riku until his foot was in the boy?s face, ?What was that, three hits? Pretty good, I usually get them down with one.?

Riku turned his head as much as he could and saw, but still didn?t feel, Kabuto grab his leg and begin dragging him away. He could hear Manda slithering behind them, as well.

Suddenly, though, a surge of power went through Riku. It started from his sword arm, and then ran up to it, circulating throughout his body. He could feel the chakra surging through him, more than that, even. It was so much chakra in him that he could feel it leaking out. Where was it coming from? Kabuto, meanwhile, had grabbed Riku?s leg and started dragging him along, apparently not feeling the immense waves of chakra at first, but suddenly stopped dead in his tracks.

?Wha... what is this?? Kabuto questioned, releasing Riku from his grip.

Suddenly, Riku felt that he could move yet again. No, more than that. He felt like he could move more quickly than ever before. Suddenly, he disappeared and, barely giving Kabuto enough time to complete his astounded gasp, reappeared right in front of his opponent. Chakra flowed out of him like a fountain.

Riku quickly brought his blade forward in a jab to Kabuto?s stomach with the hilt of it, and as soon as it hit, knocking the wind right out of his opponent, Riku turned his hand so that the blade reversed from pointing backwards to slamming into Kabuto?s side. He was suddenly sent flying to the side as Manda rushed to his aid, towards Riku.

Riku, though, didn?t dodge this time; he simple put his hands on the ground. Manda suddenly stopped, he felt like he couldn?t move anymore, like something was holding him in place.

And a second after, he was completely frozen.

Riku could feel a throbbing in his arm. Was in the burn from the purple fire from all that time ago that gave him this power? No... it wasn?t coming from there... the burned area may have been reacting to this increase in chakra, but it wasn?t causing it. It felt more like it was coming from...

Riku was cut short as Kabuto suddenly came running towards him, but he only turned his head and stared. As Kabuto went for an attack, this time a slice with his hand instead of the usual jab, Riku suddenly disappeared and reappeared behind him. He placed a hand on Kabuto?s shoulder, and suddenly his body, too, started to freeze, and was, within moments, encased within ice.

Riku, suddenly feeling the power leave him as Kabuto was completely frozen, thought that he didn?t have enough time to think about it, and so he quickly took out the parchment and looked at it.

They won?t stay like this for long, make haste to the north. Run to the seas.

Riku backed away, slowly at first, staring at the two frozen figures and wondering how he managed to do all of... that. But quickly, he turned and ran, simply happy for the chance to get away.
