Ok I did my homework and read the post which was very well written. So my interpretation of the combo I used is the wind being much larger in size would barrel through the wall of fire which is small by comparison. The fire would infuse with the wind sphere and you would get a combination jutsu, but because the fire is not very big and is low in rank the power of the overall jutsu would not be increased. The wind sphere would just have slightly different properties than before.

Am I right in saying that for element combos to work that the two elements used should be close in size and strength?

Genkai stands 8 m away from a clone of sensei. They stand on what has become a mostly barren land due to this training. Genkai builds up fire chakra in her stomach. When the chakra reaches a peak she takes a deep breath and allows it to flow into her mouth. She next performs the tiger hand seal and the chakra becomes focused. Genkai then spits fire out of her mouth in a steady stream. The stream hits the ground in front of the clone and Genkai uses shape manipulation to quickly expand it into a ring. The ring surrounds the clone and the empty space between the ring and the clone is quickly engulfed in flames. The clone disappears.

Allow the dragon to flow through the cords and incinerate my clone in flames.

The shuriken pass the clone and wrap around the tree in a circular fashion. As the wires wrap around they pin the clone tightly to the front of the tree. Genkai takes hold of her end of the wires and pins them into the ground. She then builds up her fire chakra and performs the hand seals Snake → Dragon → Rabbit → Tiger. Genkai takes a deep breath and releases a large fireball from her mouth. She uses shape manipulation to form the fire into a dragons head as it exits her mouth. Genkai aims the fire dragon head at the wires and it travels along them quickly reaching the clone and burning it. The clone disappears.

She exhales a large blast of fire in the shape of a dragon from her mouth. The dragon splits into 3 fire bullets in front of her and to her left and right. The bullets quickly converge on the clone and burn it to a crisp.

Advantages

• - The fire bullets will attack the opponent in multiple places. -
• - The jutsu has pretty good range. Can't be used at long range but not many jutsu can. -
• - This is easily combined with other jutsu. I think their is a earth tech that it can be specifically combined with. -

Disadvantages

• - With 7 hand seals this jutsu takes some time to perform. The opponent will have time to react. -
• - The jutsu will probably partially block the users view due to its wide range. -
• - Nothing more to add. -

Combinations-strategies This jutsu can easily combined with wind jutsu as the bullets will be fast traveling. This jutsu can also be combined with mud techs to create deadly projectiles or to set a river of mud on fire.

Ways to counter this technique As with all fire techs the best way to counter is with water. You will want to use a wide spread jutsu to defend since the fire bullets attack from 3 directions. You can also defend yourself with a large earth wall or dome.

Combinations-strategies This really isn't a good jutsu to combine with others. You can however do damage to your opponent and block their vision from the explosions. You could also use this to quickly blow through walls or other structures.

Ways to counter this technique You don't want to let the fire shots get in short range of you since they can explode. You can counter by firing water projectiles out to mid range to intercept the shots. You can also use kunai to do this. If you can't avoid the fire shots you can harden your body with earth to protect yourself.

• - The fireball can act as a defense and attack due to its large size.-
• - Nothing to add here. -

Disadvantages

• - It can only be used in short range. -
• - The size of the fireball will block your vision. -
• - You can't control the fireball once it is realized. -

Combinations-strategies You could use this in conjunction with a fast acting wind jutsu to create a powerful combo. Maybe something like hurricane fist. This is a nice projectile jutsu to fire when your opponent throws weapons at you. The fireball will intercept the weapons and continue towards your opponent.

Ways to counter this technique You can fire a water projectile of equivalent size and power to put out the fire ball. You can also push yourself out the of way of the fire ball with a earth/water pillar if you have time. Finally you can construct a earth wall or dome to intercept the fire ball.

Somehow a forest is still around after all this training. The forest stands 11 m away from Genkai. She builds up a large amount of fire chakra in her stomach. She then jumps 2.5 m into the air and releases fire from her mouth. While she's releasing the fire she uses shape manipulation to form into 3 giant spherical bullets. The bullets quickly land below in the forest. The fire from the bullets consume the forest and turn it's top ash.
Advantages

• - The bullets can be used at any range. -
• - You can use this jutsu to quickly alter the terrain if you so choose. -
• - Their are 3 bullets that you can fire in different spots. -

Disadvantages

• - You have to jump into the air to fire the bullets. This can leave you in a vulnerable position both in the air and when you land. -
• - The opponent will have time to react to your move since you have to jump into the air before using this jutsu. -
• - Nothing to add here. -

Combinations-strategies You can set a large area on fire with this jutsu and then use a powerful gust to spread the flames and create a huge fire storm. You could use an earth jutsu that effects the ground and then jump into the air and use this jutsu. The opponent will have no where to go since the fire balls are coming from the air and the ground isn't safe.

Ways to counter this technique This depends on range. At long range you might be able to evade the fireballs. At mid or short range I don't think it's a good idea to try and evade this jutsu since their are 3 fireballs. In this case you can fire large water projectiles or create a giant water wave to engulf the fire balls. You could also drastically change the terrain with earth jutsu to avoid the fireballs all together. This can be done by forming a earth golem for example.

This rubs a flint between her teeth causing the ash to explode and destroy the clone.
Advantages

• - You can cause an explosion that covers a somewhat wide area with this jutsu. -
• - This jutsu has decent range. -
• - Nothing to add here. -

Disadvantages

• - The ash completely blocks your vision of the opponent. -
• - The jutsu is slow requiring 4 hand seals. -
• - You have to keep track of your opponent in the cloud of ash to ignite it and hit your opponent successfully. -

Combinations-strategies I like using this jutsu at mid range. I would throw weapons into the ash and the ignite it immediately after. You can also use it as a distraction and blind your opponent momentarily.

Ways to counter this technique You can quickly blow away the ash with a fast forming wind jutsu. If you don't have time to stop the explosion you can harden your body to protect yourself. You could also use a large scale earth or water jutsu to lift yourself away from the ash.
