Genkai waits outside Konohagakure for her sensei Gin to arrive. She thinks about how he ruined her perfect pun with his change of identity.This is her first time training in Katon.

If your like my other senseis you no doubt want to hear about my knowledge of katon, right? So I'll give a brief explanation drawing from my experience in my other training.
Katon also known as fire release is one of the 5 nature transformations. By focusing and heating chakra in the stomach and releasing it through the lungs and mouth one can perform various fire jutsu. As a chakra nature fire is wild and unpredictable unlike it's counterpart water which is free flowing and smooth. Among the nature transformations Katon techniques require the most amount of control only second to raiton. As an element it is the least versatile in its techniques but makes up for it with sheer raw power. It can burn the earth, suck the oxygen out of the air, and be used to produce hot ash to name a few applications. It is strong against Futon as wind will only strength fire, but is weak against Suiton since water can put out fire. However these strengths and weakness are also based on the size and rank of the techniques being used, i.e. a D rank water jutsu can't put out a S-rank fire jutsu. Katon also has relative strengths and weaknesses to kekkei genkai. Katon techniques are most commonly associated with the tiger handseal.
Now i want you to take this chakra paper. I want you to think fire, think burning stuff, think hot. Find your fire chakra and release it into this paper. If you do it right, it'll turn into ash.
Genkai grabs the sheet of paper from her sensei and positions it between 2 fingers on her right hand. She then builds up the chakra in her body. As she does this she visualizes her chakra flowing wildly and becoming intensely hot like a forest fire scorching it's surroundings. The chakra becomes focused around the mental image and is effectively converted to fire chakra. Genkai builds up the chakra to a peak and releases it though chakra points in her right hand. The chakra is directed towards the paper and it turns to ash.
Alright, keep that feeling, keep that imagery in your head. Now manifest that fire chakra inside your stomach. Keep focusing until you believe you have a good amount of chakra build up. Then release it out as a small fireball at that bush right there. Let's see if you can do it
Genkai remembers the feeling of chakra inside of her from turning the chakra paper to ash. She builds up her chakra again and once again visualizes it as wild, hot, and fierce. This turns her chakra into fire chakra. She focuses on building chakra in her stomach. Genkai's stomach slowly expands as the fire chakra grows in her belly. When the stomach is near stretched as far as it can be Genkai takes one big breath and releases the fire chakra out of her mouth in one go. As she does this she uses shape manipulation to form the exiting fire into a small ball. The ball leaves her mouth heading towards a bush to her sensei's left. The ball hits the bush and sets it aflame. Birds come flying out and nothing is left of the bush but a black scorch mark on the ground.
That felt spicy like my taco dinner last night, hiccup.
Excellent job, now do it again, but this time do a smaller fireball but keep spitting them out. So, give me 4 smaller fireballs in quick succession. Do it over there by that bush.
Genkai stares at another bush this time to her sensei's right. The bush is taller now standing at 5 ft tall. Genkai builds up her chakra in her stomach and converts it to fire chakra by visualizing it's hot and sporadic nature. This time the chakra only slightly pushes against the inside of her stomach. Genkai takes a medium size breath and lets out some of the fire chakra from her mouth. She molds it into a small fire ball and aims it at the top of the bush. She continues and lets out another fire ball aimed at the middle of the bush and then directs one to the bottom of the bush. Finally she releases her remaining fire chakra and again sends a fireball to the middle of the bush. The last fire ball causes a chain reaction with the other flames causing the entire bush to be set aflame. The bush turns into ash with the exception of one burning leaf which slowly falls in front of sensei.
Is Smokey the bear going to get mad at us for this?
noww... let me see, i want you to shoot some fire, but instead of releasing at a fireball hold it as a stream of fire keeping that stream going at that bush.
Genkai turns around to find a large bush behind her. As before she builds up chakra in her stomach and heats it turning it into fire chakra. When the fire chakra has built up as much as it can Genkai takes a breath and exhales the heated chakra from her mouth as fire. She uses shape manipulation to mold the exiting fire into a continuous stream aimed at the bush in front of her. The stream hits the bush and burns it to a crisp. Genkai doesn't release the stream and aims it at another bush to her left. As she maintains the stream her stomach starts to contract as the fire chakra is used up. She once again burns the bush and using the last of her built up chakra turns the stream to a bush on her right. The stream incinerates the bush and the stream stops. Genkai takes a deep breath and wipes sweat off her forehead.
That was exhausting. Now I know how a charmander feels.
Genkai stares directly at sensei who is 5 m in front of her. She pulls four shuriken out of a pouch around her waist and throws them at sensei. One is aimed for his neck and two are aimed for his right and left bicep. The fourth shuriken is aimed at his left knee. As soon as Genkai releases the shuriken she builds up fire chakra in her stomach. She takes a breath and releases fire from her mouth. As the fire is released from her mouth she uses shape manipulation to form it into a ball. The fireball hits the shuriken aimed at sensei's neck and sets it aflame. Genkai fires off 3 more consecutive fireballs and each of the shuriken are set on fire. Genkai waits to see what sensei is going to do.
As Gin sees the shurikens coming at Gin puts palms out and creates a water wall infront of him. The water shield takes the hit of the shuriken and flames and puts the flames out and stops the shuriken.

I want you to focus katon chakra in your lungs and form the said hand seals. When you ready to release do not release as a fire attack, instead blow out a flammable gas. Do it towards that way *Gin points behind you* You can use a lighter or one of the fire techs you learned to spark it and it'll turn into a large fireball.
Genkai turns around as her sensei had instructed. There she faces the entrance to a forest. Genkai builds up fire chakra in the pit of her stomach but visualizes it with the consistency of a fine mist. Once her stomach is full she performs the hand seals Snake β Ram β Monkey β Tiger which focuses the chakra. Genkai then takes a large breath and spews out a flammable oily mist from her mouth.

Shortly after the mist is dispersed Genkai builds up more fire chakra and spits out a small fireball from her mouth. The fireball hits the mist and it is instantly set aflame. The mist had made it's way into the entrance of the forest and in turn the fireball ignites a giant forest fire.

k, i'll take care of it. Gin slams his hand onto the ground and summons a huge amount of water over the forest. The fire is handled easily.

Alright, remember that first jutsu Sasuke was learning to impress his dad by the lake? Here it is, I want to form the hand seals shown, form them many times until you get them right, then inhale and focus a ton of fire chakra then release it into a large fireball, release it through by making a hole with you index finger and your thumb and blow out.
Genkai listens to sensei list a bunch of hand seals needed for the next jutsu. After listening she practices them several times eventually committing them to memory. Genkai turns and faces an area with nothing in the nearby vicinity. She builds fire chakra in her stomach until it is full and performs the hand seals Snake β Ram β Monkey β Boar β Horse β Tiger. Genkai then takes a large breath and spits fire out of her mouth. Simultaneously she takes her index finger and thumb on her right hand and forms a ring at the entrance of her mouth. The fire passes through the ring and quickly forms into a giant fireball. The fireball heads off forward into the air. In the distance it can be seen dissipating from the wind as nothing was in the fireball's path.

I don't know hurricane fist but I do know some wind jutsu. Here goes.
Genkai stands 5 m away from sensei. As sensei throws the kunai Genkai takes a lighter in her right hands and turns it on. She then throws the lighter directly at the kunai. Just before the lighter and the kunai collide 2 m in front of Genkai she builds up fire chakra and uses it to manipulate the flame of the lighter. She uses shape manipulation to form a 2 m high flame wall that protects against the oncoming kunai. Genkai then builds up a large amount of wind chakra in her body and performs the hand seals Tiger β Dog. She then releases the wind chakra from her mouth in the form of a large sphere of wind. The sphere hits the wall of flame and combines with it forming a large sphere composed mostly of fire and some wind directed at sensei.

Description: After performing two hand seals Tiger β Dog the user launches a stronger version of the Wind Release: Vacuum Sphere technique, where the user instead chooses to compress the entirety of the previously inhaled breath into a single large, crushing sphere of wind chakra that they then proceed to expel from their mouth.
I'm not sure if the sphere would hit the wall and the fire would absorb the wind making a bigger wall that is still stationary, or if the sphere since it is much bigger in size would combine with with fire and continue down it's path. Either way the fire is going to absorb the wind.
