hokages win, and yes it would completely change the fight if itachi joins (if he joins the akatsuki than they win) + you said pain, are you talking about nagato only, or 6 paths only, or all 7 of them?

I think this is a really difficult fight for 5 vs. 9 and if Itachi joins either side he tips the favor a lot because he's so beast especially at full power. So i think that each kage could match up with each team so it becomes like 5 vs 4.5 which would put it in the kages favor especially because they all could take on 2 at least and tsunade could easly counteract anything lethal that they do against the kage's like sasori's poison and other effects would just be thrown off the table, and the kage's would work really well together while the akatuski would have little team work out of their two man cells

Well Hashirama beat Madara once he could do it again...And i would say Hokages cuz Hashirama,2. Hokage and Minato are said to be ONE of the best ninjas ever...

I'd lean towards the Hokages. It's true it's 5 vs 9, but when we're talking the incredible level of the first 4 Hokages, I feel like lesser ninja like Hidan, Sasori, Deidara could be taken care of relatively quickly. (Keep in mind all the Akatsuki have incredible powers, I'm just saying I don't think some of them are near the hokage-level).

Nagato is the real obstacle. However, we did see that Pain is susceptible to high-level genjutsu, and Hiruzen was said to know all of the jutsu in Konoha (genjutsu included). I have a feeling Yondaime's incredible power and Sandaime's huge repertoire of jutsu would tip the balance towards the hokages.

hard one, because we havnt seen the 1st and 2nd true power. probaly hokages. but ima go with akatsuki because all 6 pains plus nagato with the gedo mazou tech, deidara with c4 micro explosion and self desruction, kakuzu with 5 haerts and top level control over all 5 elements (even tho he got owned by the 1st already.lol), sasori cant die unless you know his secret and kazekage puppet and more puppets and poison with one scratch ur dead, hidan cant die other nins will get one of hokages blood for him, tobi with rinnengan nuff said (best ninja), konan well ehh, 100,000 zetsu army and one with the earth, sasuke with ems (if you wanna add him, but probaly not)... idk im leanning towards the akatsuki.. but...


1st hokage; defeated the true EMS madara uchia (only man in history to defeat the last lv of sharingan), wood element that is fast and effective, high level of water and earth, powerful genjutsu, can control tailed beast's, tsunade strenght (i assume senjutsu), high level of taijutsu, and more and more i could go on but ima stop.lol

2nd hokage; invented the edo tensei jutsu, used space time ninjutsu (dont know what kind tho), highest level of water jutsu (atleast to me), high lv of taijutsu, and took on 20 master bounty hunters by himself (which probaly included the kingin bros), and thats all we know about him so far

3rd;....... the professor himself!..... was said to have been called "god of shinobi" by oru, master every (non-bloodline) jutsu in the leaf, learned the 4th hokages reaper death seal at an old age, had seals, ninjutsu, genjutsu, taijutsu, heck everything was at a high level.lol i could go on and on about the 3rd (the only kage i repect more then the 1st and 2nd hokage).

4th hokage;. konahas yellow flash...... had the bodyflicker tech (not many ninjas can do that tech), ftg veriants, seals, summons frogs, rasengan (weak against elite's but strong against the weak), reaper death seal, etc etc

5th; princess tsunade! crazy strenght, best medic ninja, slug summon, one of the 3 sannins, etc etc

they all sound good but ima have to say the akatsuki still. but it could go either way tho.

Then the hokages would probably plow over most of the akatsuki. Crush Hidan or trap him in wood or seal him, teleport deidara's bombs away, FTG up and rasengan him off his bird or wood sprout from his bird and crush him, tsunade can curse sasori's poisons, the 1st's wood or enma's staff (including cage form) could defend againest iron sand, anyone could destory the puppets since they are all fast have powerful attacks and have teammates. wood,water,fire or earth elemental attacks could all counter konan's paper jutsus and they have tsunade's slug or minato teleporting them away from her billions of tags attack (which she probably wouldn't be able to use unless the rest of akatsuki fell back for 10mins) but if she did use it the 10mins would buy both teams time to rest/heal with tsunade or pain's healing body, after that her chakra would run low she wouldn't be able to keep her paper body jutsu up and be useless, pain would probably save her life tho by reverse summoning her out of the battle.

The real fight is when they got down to Pain, Kisame and Kazuku. Kazuku has alot of powerful jutsus since he has several elements, extendable limbs, 5 lives and is one of the oldest akatsuki members and he would know how the 1st fights since hes survived againest him before so his info+ pains abilities added with kisame's sword and water styles would counter alot of what the 1st and 2nd use.
But the 4th is fast enough to destroy Pain's bodies, could possibly seal samehada and teleport to help defend if one of the other hokages are being overwhelmed (just in case).
Sarutobi (assuming hes younger not in his 60s so he'd actually have chakra levels of the other hokages) would have several kinds of elemental attacks to counter kazuku's elements, having enma transform into the staff he could attack kisame from afar without losing chakra or smash one of Pain's bodies with it for a combo with either another attack or another hokage's attack and genjutsu to use on nagato if he has any sound-based ones.

and of course tsunade for super powered punches to anyone and healing for the team, her slug summon could make for a very useful defence if pain decides to try turning the tide with his full scale shinra tensei, or minato could teleport them all away untill the attack is over.

not sure how nagato's 7th path (bringing people back to life) would work out if the rest of akatsuki died and/or his bodies were destroyed could he just use it to bring everyone back without dieing since it'd be lower scale? if he can the 2nd round the hoakge's chakra would probably be too low or they'd be injured to survived a whole 2nd fight with all of them.

Itachi would turn the battle towards akatsuki favor with amaterasu, genjutsus and susanoo w/weapons, same with madara and his rinnegan or 100,000 army zetsu (but that would be overkill)

Definitely Hokages I would say that they would kill them.

In addition to all of the reasons people have already listed if they killed some Akatsuki then Tobirama could use Edo Tensei to bring back that person to fight on there side. That would make the fight insanely easy, all they would have to do is focus on one person at a time then make him fight for them.
