The Heart that Died
All these years, I’ve felt like something was missing,
but I’ve never known what it was, like a hidden dread eating at me,
hearing out to my aching heart, I’ve been listening,
is it you who is the one that will set me free?
I threw away everything I had to avoid suffering and pain,
but all that did for me was create a hole in my heart,
a hole which is something I may never regain,
and every time I think about what it may be, I just fall apart.
If love is what I am missing, then you must be the one my heart calls out to,
for I feel nothing but content when I’m at your side,
in my arms, I will always hold you,
for you are the one who can heal the person whose heart, years ago, had died.
