The God Tree was never evil?

Now that we know that the Juubi was actually an insane Kaguya trying to regain her power, does this basically absolve the God Tree, I mean, all it really did was get power stolen from it, it was Kaguya that went insane, the tree didn't seem to really do anything at all.

Unless there is another plot twist, and as per Kishi's comment about the Antagonists it goes: the Juubi, Madara, and finally Sasuke. But, the twist could be that the fruit was controlling Kaguya's actions all of this time as it wanted to be more then just a tree, and it finally gained control now as the new Juubi, it would fit the villain thing.. Eh.

Actually no, as Madara originally told Hashirama, it got angry and wanted it's chakra back, I'm pretty sure that would denote sentience.

She hasn't been a good villain though, at this point it wouldn't really matter too much. I mean the new Juubi thing that is created "not under her orders" is already there, so the stage is set basically.
