So the following are chapters I wrote for another website, in a storyline format. It was an RPG game, so each time they had a game running, I wrote a continuing storyline for them. I wont post all of it, since its quite a bit to have in one chapter. Ill post the rest tomorrow, or later this week.

The Gathering Horde

Magician Blue encountered Freya at the edge of a towering pillar of black rock. Encircling the black rock were massive boulders, blackened in areas where the comforting smoke from travelers had struck. Freya was strikingly beautiful, the kind of beauty that you instinctively knew you couldn't trust. She sat around a smoldering fire, her piercing eyes scanning Blue's entire being for any sign of threat. Blue approached cautiously, hands raised in the air to announce he was unarmed. Even without a weapon, he was far from defenseless.

As seconds ticked by, tensions eased considerably, but both heroes were still on guard. Breaking the silence, Blue inquired,
"So why have you called me here today, Freya? It's strange of you to ask aid from so many heroes at one time."
"You speak the truth, Blue. But this time, I cannot accomplish the task on my own. New times force men to learn new things. It is no different now.
"Yes, I suppose you're right," Blue responded."
"The others have not arrived yet, but I will begin to share with you what I have discovered. I have been sensing a shift in the texture of nature. This shift has been severe, a phenomenon that has occurred only in the last few moons. I have been one with nature all my life, being an element of its creation. These shifts may go unnoticed by many, but not me. I can detect acute changes. And so I sought out the origination of the disturbance."

She unrolled a tattered piece of parchment, which revealed itself to be a map of a region not distant from where they were.
"See this piece of land over here?" She flicked a finger to a mountainous region.
"In this region, there is a massing army of all breeds of repulsive beasts."
"Bah, coincidence surely, an anomaly," Blue responded skeptically.
"No, Blue, I know these creatures, how they act, how they think. These beasts are not even capable of cooperating in packs in their natural state. To have untold thousands of them functioning together is something unheard of." She ceased talking for a brief period, trying to control the terror in her voice.
"There is no logical way they could be this organized without foreign intervention. Something wicked is leading these creatures. It is more powerful than any of us can imagine. I fear that whatever the creature is, it will be the end of us all."
Blue looked up into her eyes, sensing an unfamiliar feeling of fear that chilled him to the bone. The terror etched onto her face was immediately apparent to him. To have someone of Freya's skill frightened at the prospect of a foe was an omen worse than any he could conjure. Overhead, a raven screeched unmercifully towards the shaken heroes. Blue was wrong. This omen was worse. It was a omen of evil, of fear. Of death.

The crow's screeching ceased abruptly, and suddenly Magician Blue and Freya felt very exposed. She and Blue shared a look of fearful knowing. They were being watched. Tenderly, she laid her callused hands on the ground, relaxed her body, and sensed the forces of life around her. As her senses abandoned her, she could feel her essence slide through the spindly cracks in the earth, push past the tough bark of oak trees, and flow through places of water, interacting with the alien life that resided there. Immediately, she was repulsed by something she had detected beside a slow flowing river. Orcs!

"Blue! Orcs just beyond a river not far off! They are heading this way fast!", Freya whispered violently.
"Good!", he responded.
"Now I will have a chance to extract a bit of revenge on these filthy cockroaches!" Both Freya and Blue withdrew their weapons of destruction. Freya unlatched a longbow from her back, while Blue began chanting defensive incantations and empowering his hands with spells. They got into formation, with Freya slightly in front to deal close range damage.
"Now Freya, I have set ground traps, and i'll combine them with rapid long range bursts, but im afraid that wont be enough. If too many get past, you'll have to deal with all of them. I'll thin their numbers in the back."
"Right, just dont give me too hard of a time, i'm fragile.", she joked.

Orcs crashed towards Freya and Blue like a wave of metal and flesh. A section of Orcs were cleaved in half after they had triggered ground traps laid by Blue. Pure black streaks of razor sharp lightening tore through the air on four sides, creating a cage of controlled annihilation.
"There are just too many!", Blue cried inside.
"Freya! I cannot do this any longer, I'll have to break up the frontal charge, otherwise we will both be overrun!", he screamed.
"Do whatever you have to do.", she replied while launching arrows with deadly accuracy. Orcs were now too close for long range combat. Freya dropped her bow, ripped two short swords from their scabbards, and deftly shattered multiple incoming steel tipped arrows before severing the arm of an Orc who got too close. Seizing the advantage of hand to hand combat, multiple battalions of Orcs broke off to each side, and instantly the two heroes were surrounded.
"Well, this is an unfortunate turn of events", Freya hissed. She turned to look at Blue, whose expression was grim.
Suddenly, a scream ripped open the blood-tinged air, and both the hereo's and Orc's focus shifted to a cloaked figure perched on a tall pillar of black rock. The silhouette leaped into the air and landed heavily near Freya and Blue, its back turned.
"God made death so we'd know when to stop, but it sure seems like you two crossed that line years ago", the cloaked man chuckled.

So what do you think? The characters are based off characters from the website, and the plot and everything is inspired by them as well.
